In honor of "TRON: Uprising" I'd like to present my latest project... the TRON Wii!

I've been working on this off & on for about 6 months (I don't have much free time) and when I heard the premier date for Uprising was in June I accelerated my plans to get this together.

The system features a custom light pattern on top of the Wii (which can be turned off or on via a switch at the rear of the unit), TRON Wii remotes in both blue (the standard, off the shelf color) and white (custom), Wii remote motion-plus accessory with custom Sam Flynn inspired data chip, TRON Wii nunchucks (featuring white or blue lights & matching straps), and a custom warrenty sticker.

Dude.....

No seriously, Dude...

Bad ass.

I've modded my PC, xbox 360 (Iron Man with an arc reactor), PS3 (,Sleeper Mod,Bat symbol.) and was thinking og doing my Wii too.

How much room is there internally to work with? the 360 has a decent amount, the PS3 is just about NO SPACE to work with inside.

Thanks.

There's not space to work with. Even after removing the (mostly) unneccessary heat shield, towards the rear of the unit there are just a few cubic centimeters to work in. Near the front of unit in some places I had less than 2mm to work with.

Yes... that means I soldered over 20 surface mount LEDs and 20 surface mount resistors by hand.

...sounds like a bit more than the PS3. lol Did you happen to check the DVD drive? I know since it's a slot loader there isn't much chance of having a view of the disc spinning. But, did you happen to open it up and see?

I thought about it but couldn't figure out a good way to have the typical TRON circuit pattern while also showing the naked disc.

Yes, want to sell it? or least charge to mod someone else's? :) I know you said it took you about 6 months on and off to make this mod, but what was the estimated actual time to make it?

Thanks for the kind words everyone but I'm not really in the market to sell it just yet. I'd be willing to work on a duplicate for someone but they would need to be really, really into it and willing to pay for the time & materials.

I'd had many discussions with people over the years of selling mods or doing custom work and frankly 98% of the people are not willing to even cover the cost of materials... not even including paying for the time involved. This particular mod is low in terms of materials (probably only $150 in materials not counting the Wii or the TRON Wii remotes) but heavy on time. Even now that I know exactly what to do (and maybe could even optimize and reduce the time involved) & have all the designs for parts ready for lasering, I'd guess there's still upwards of 15 hours involved. Assuming a modest pay rate of $20 per hour (my day job pays about 3x that), that's $300 in labor.

Who would be interested paying $450 plus the cost of a Wii & controllers?

I'm not trying to discourage anyone and I'd gladly talk to someone about making one for them or offering advice if someone wanted to try one on their own. But anyone who's been modding for a while knows that the topic of selling and/or money is a sensitive one. Most people don't realize the $$ behind this hobby.

Tron: Uprising is just a damn awesome cartoon. Anyone not watching this should be. The polish on it is incredible.

+1

I had my doubts when it was first announced but I was wrong. It's top-notch.

And it's available for purchase (in HD) on iTunes! Great news for those of us that spend more than $120 a month on cable and yet still don't have Disney XD.

Pretty badass. I love everything TRON, Uprising is great.

That thing is just awesome. Great job on it. To bad those aren't mass produced like that. I'd prob get one in a heart beat.
