I recently got a trojan in my system and AVG antispyware detected it and 'removed' it from the system the odd thing is after the scan avg asked to reboot. the wierd thing is that the trojan was in a file i backed up (cd) from a previous instillation (where no virus scan was installed). anyway when avg found it. saw it on the cd drive and said scan now . and reboot so I did but imediately I booted into safe mode and ran a scan again both with avg free and anti spy (nothing found). long story short now antispy icon on the system tray is in black and white. did the trojan back itself up in the registry? or is AVG anti-spy grayed out because its a trial version????

Sounds like the AVG definitions need be updated.

P.S. Not sure about trial version. I have free and the system tray icon turns gray and black when it needs to be updated. Check your virus vault also.

Trial version ends in 30 days. It is a great program, but I would suggest using an AV product *cough* Nod32 to make sure you got rid of it.

AVG free is the same program as the paid one, 1 can used in a business, other can not.

I must agree though, grey and black means needing update. I've found(personal experience only here) the Avast! does a better job than AVg, and it's free also.
