Hey guys,

I know this has been asked many times. I have searched some threads, but most of them are quite old. So i want to create this thread for myself with the new information and prices of the displays.

I'm looking into buying a triple monitor (3x1) setup for my new system which i will run in eyefinity with a single 2GB 6950. I've been researching for some hours and i think i have two choices.

3x Dell U2311H - 1920x1080, 23 inch but IPS - 200 euro each
3x Samsung 2443BW - 1920x1200, 24 inch but TN - 210 euro each

The main advantage of the Samsungs is the higher resolution. I can imagine this resolution paysoff the little price difference. However, I have serious doubts about the TN panel. I don't know if I can do portrait mode with the Samsung, because of the viewing angles. However, the extra vertical pixels are really nice. I think I will use landscape mode the most, but I want to keep my setup as versitile as possible so i can switch to portrait when i want to.

I know of the existence of for example the HP ZR24w. But this monitor costs 350 euros where i live. My dream is to get three of those, simply dont have the budget.

Maybe someone has a better suggestion for max 650 euro (without adapter) triple monitors? Requirements are: 23+ inch, 650 euro max, portrait mode, thin bezel and good gaming perfomance.
 
I'd go with the Samsung although it's $10 more. I feel like nothing is wrong with TN. I use generic ASUS matte LCD's and they run great. My buddy has 3 27" IPS Dell's and they are amazing clear, but honestly, most of the time I can't tell the difference between a glassy LED and IPS. I am color deficient though. I just want to more vertical space to work with.
 
If you want to use them in portrait mode do not get TN based panels. You can get away with it with small 19 inch TN's sometimes but with larger sizes like that your going to see major distortion.
 
As much as I like your choices I have been running 3 Samsung BX2440 LED LCD screens with a single HD 6870 in eyefinty without any problems at a resolution of 3240 x 1920. Its accomplished with only one active Mini display port to DVI converter. The converters can be quite pricy so make sure you get the correct active powered onces.

Since the BX2440 can switch between portrait and landscape with ease it's the best solution I have ever had. You don't need weird stands or brackets as the screen comes with a swivel stand that has many possible positions.

I'd recommend the u2311h. I've got a very similar setup which is one of those and 2 monitors from the same panel manufacturer the NEC EA231. It works great in portrait or landscape, takes about a minute to switch between them, with just a few shortcuts CCC switches pretty fast. Aligning them after a landscape to portrait switch can take a bit longer since its easier to notice a small misalignment.

I first had one U2311h alongside my older and larger TN monitor was 1920x1200 and 25.5 in. The U2311h had no noticeable to the eye difference in response times and the better colors more than made up for the lost screen size. The HP ZR24w seems like it would be even better, but it really wasn't worth double the cost when I bought it.

The other advantages is that it has dp connections, which let you connect 3 dp cables from a gpu that has 3 dp outputs. Doing this will eliminate an eyefinity tearing problem that would be present on one screen if you connect 1 or 2 monitors via dvi and the other 1 or 2 by dp. I'd buy a 6950 like this one.
 
For Eyefinity, you're better off with the Dell. It doesn't make sense to take TN panels for eyefinity. You will have problems with viewing angles. IPS on the U2311 will fix that
