I have been thinking about this for some time. My desk is actually large enough to fit 3 LCDs with some minor modifications (removing the built-in CD holder tower, for example). I would also need to move my amplified, and get rid of the cd changer box (not that I ever play music CDs anyways...).
I'm thinking about using 3 LCDs for one main reason: 2 seems annoying to me. I'd rather be able to look straight ahead at the center LCD than having a seam between the two, and always looking left or right most of the time. My main motive is that I'm a programmer, and obviously I multitask alot. I have the IDE open, along with some reference webpages, IM clients, an IRC client, and I usually watch some Star Trek: TNG or Voyager episodes on Winamp TV while programming (Hey, don't blame me, I never had cable TV and never had a chance to watch them before ;D).
It means I would need to do some small sacrifices, however. For one, my videocard is a BFGTech GeForce 6800GT OC. It has one DVI output and one SVGA output. Second, my motherboard is an Asus A8V Deluxe, which is an AGP board. If I wanted two LCDs, one would need to use an extra PCI videocard (hence, most likely an SVGA output, and the other would need to use the second SVGA output of my 6800GT). So only the main monitor would have a DVI output.
I'm guessing thats probably not so bad though, because the central monitor would most likely be the one I use the most, the one I use for games, and hence, the one that really needs to be of high quality. The two side monitors could possibly be some less expensive models.
For my central monitor, I am thinking of getting a Samsung 193P+ (1000:1, 8ms, 1280x1024). Its apparently good for gaming, but there aren't many professional reviews. I am also unsure if it really is 19" *viewable*. For the side monitors, I guess anything with decent reviews and no technical problems that supports 1280x1024 would do. If they had the same color as the 193P+, that would be an added bonus.
Comments? Similar experiences? Does someone own a 193P+ and have comments about it?
