so I had this fear when I built this PC since I couldn't find any reference design 6950s for sale anymore

so I've jacked up all the case fans to 100% but under load the top card still reaches 98degreesC

I tried switching all the video outputs to the bottom card, but once I did that even with Crossfire enabled in CCC I wasnt getting crossfire in games. Is there a way to fix this? I would love to load test with the bottom card as primary since the idle temps decreased substantially on the top card when the bottom was used for video out

heres a pic (sadly one of my better cable management works)

any suggestions?

also the MOBO is an asus maximus IV and all PCIe slots being used are rated at x16

I'm not sure there's much of anything you can do short of getting rid of one of your cards . They're getting so hot because of the spacing.

Also I think the M4E runs at 8x16x16 with 3 cards.

sapphire toxic have showed back up on newegg, wonder if they will let me return these and get 3 of those

While you should definitely see a temp improvement with the Toxic's cooling design in your RV03 I'm not sure exactly how much cooler they'd be. Unless you really want eyefinity resolutions with all your eyecady turned up you can get away with 2 Toxics unlocked and OCd and save some money for 7XXX :)
