Has anyone had any luck with the topic, im at a lost end can't get games to run smooth etc mainly for bf2 but just get frame drop and sloppy graphics running trifire 6950s and eyefinity. Thanks for any advice
I'm on 2 cards in eyefinity and I don't have any problems, however, I don't play BC2 and I've heard that game is poorly optimized for multiscreen regardless of what manufacturer you use. Compound that with the fact that it's heavily favoring Nvidia GPU's over AMD and you have a recipe for disaster. I saw a review once that showed GTX 560 Ti's beating out 6970s. Dice no longer supports the game so don't pray for any patches. My advice prepare for Battlefield 3 which looks good so far on either side, even with surround or eyefinity.
I had trifire 3x6950@6970 with my eyefinity setup and had a lot of problems.
Now i play BFBC2 with two 6970 DC II and no problem at all.
The third gpu core is no go for eyefinity.
On one monitor all runs fine with trifire but no with eyefinity setups.
Thanks!
Can you tell me if you use dvi to hdmi or dvi to vga cables, just something to try on my setup as i use hdmi and have ordered vga to see if it makes any difference.
Also did you get big frame drops with 3 cards? and do you need to use 2 crossfire bridges with 2 cards? Thanks again!
Well my tri-fire eyefinity experience in BC2 has been fine overall. I run in a 5x1 config for a 6000x1920 resolution. The one thing I turn off to have a good experience is HBAO. With it enabled the reported frames are good but it doesn't feel as smooth. So I run dx11 all high at 6000x1920, get 100+ fps most of the time, and the gameplay feels good.
Also all 3 GPU's are fairly well loaded.
And the patch dice released this week ensures no more CTD for multi monitor users
EDIT: it's probably also worth mentioning, since the above is my experience with 5 monitors, that when I have used tri-fire on 3 monitors (3600x1920), the performance in BC2 is exceptional. I can enable HBAO with all high settings and it runs smooth.
Too bad.
I have Tri-Fire with a 6990 + 6950 flashed and run all three at 6970 clocks.
I haven't had a single problem in any games, as long as they have a desent Crossfire profile......now Dead Island........that's a real PITA currently......I shelved it.
I've found BFBC2 runs at roughly 60-75 FPS and has no issues for me at all.....but I haven't played it in a while. I used to run two 580 GTX and had no issues there either and the performance was similar to my TriFire.
My resent games.....Deus Ex: HR, Dead Island(don't get me started),Hard Reset, FEAR3,Dead Space2.............all run very well in EyeFinity........![]()
Im getting 60-75fps on one 6970 with max settings apart from AA at 2x 5760x1200..
maybe i should sell my 6950/70's and get a 6990 with my 6970.. qhat a piain , what motherboard do you have ? ta
While it HAS reduced the number of CTDs it hasn't eliminated them for me. I used to be able to go a good 20 minutes before it would consistantly CTD now I can go about an hour to an hour and a half. This, though, is much better than nothing at all for sure.
