I was over at a bud's and he was playing this game. It looks really good and the colors and brightness are great. What does everybody else think of this multiplayer (mainly) fps?

well it is pretty fun, however not as good as tribes 1, or even tribes 2 fully patched.

The problem is hacks were developed for the game soon afterwards and there were some issues that should be patched (much like all pc games) However, Vivendi stated that they stopped all support for this game, and cancelled the patch that the dev team was working on. They stopped support b/c of the low sales numbers and decided that it wasnt worth the effort to patch the game. Well this off course made the already elitest Tribes community angry and they also gave up on the game.

Im not sure how many people actually still play it online, but I do have a copy so I might try it again and see how it is these days. It is a fun game, and the SP isnt that bad either. Try it out for sure, but its really to bad that vivendi halted support, b/c patches could have kept alot more players in the game.

I have it, I used to play it online fairly regularly, and was pretty good at it. (I have a video saved somewhere of me killing someone with a midair disk. :D ) The total lack of support (the 1.1 patch was needed badly) and the lukewarm community response made me gradually lose enthusiasm though. It's been months since I even had it installed.

Are there a lot of servers still out there? I might dig up the box and reinstall it, it's been a while. :p

The publisher and developer have completely dropped support, the game is dead. The game was supposed to get a second patch, adding punkbuster, but it never happened, the game wasn't selling enough copies. If I remeber the post on tribalwar correctly, in its entirety, Tribes Vengence didn't even sell as many copies as Tribes 2 did in its first month.

I liked the Multiplayer beta and intended on buying it, but now... not so much. At least until it hits the bargain bin prices.

I love capping the flag, and in most levels could do it without touching the ground more than once (to pickup the flag), thus leaving me practically invulnerable - you know it's bad when the other team has most if not all of their guys guarding the flag and they still can only kill you once every four captures.

Long live the grappling hook!

I hated the game. It just doesn't feel like a tribes game - it feels like a tribes mod for UT.

Tribes 2 will always be my favorite I suppose.

It was great
The single player ruled
Multi was killed by Vivendi

Sigh, i miss tribes

yah I think I heard that it sold less than 70,000 copies total. And that was a few months ago.

Tribes 1 was F*ing awesome. Back when people were playing CS I was playing Tribes, mostly the Renegades mod. Pfft stupid little CS players think they have skills because they can AWP someone moving on the ground. I could snipe someone in the head with the rail gun while they were flying in their jetpack...shoot I even sniped a couple people who were in the middle of a rocket jump!

Tribes1 with Renegades has to be my favorite multiplayer FPS to date. I am dissapointed I could never really get into Tribes 2 because my computer wasn't quite good enough for it. By the time I got a new computer Tribes 2 was quite dated.

I purchased it, played most of it and uninstalled it because I disliked it. Just my opinion :)

The SP portion was bad imho.

Go and buy Riddick if you have not already, you will not regret it.

bleh never really liked renegades

MA disk launcher shots, or MA mine+disk kills = teh real skillz

Meltdown MD2 for Tribes 2 was incredible.

Teamkilling my teammates with a nuke that took out like 5000Meter radius, priceless. lol

Total sold copies was 14,000

Vengeance was prolly my fav of the series entirely because of the grapple hook(grabbler monkey style rocks)

Powerful words from someone who actively played Tribes 1 for 6 years :\

Hmmm....we should get a tribes game going again haha. The original tribes could still be a good LAN game since it is free now....although when it came out originally most people had illegal copies anyways

I never played Tribes 1 but Tribes 2 was pretty awesome after installing the a$$ load of patches. I was never very good at it but I had lots of fun. Loved "Rabbit" multiplayer.

Tribes 1 was prolly my fav game ever, due to the fact that i played it for 10 hours a day back in the day
as for T:V i thought it was great and i bought a copy and then found out that nobody is switching over from T2
and total copys sold of T:V was around 47K so said one of the dev's in a interview just after they killed the game off

Tribes 1 is still by far my favorite FPS. I still have the original installed on my system.

2 and Vengeance were good, but never matched up to the fun that the first had.

I loved tribes 2, had so much fun with it back in the day, too bad there were very rarely any even games, it was always one team getting completely raped by the other.. i remember playing the vengance demo and it was definately fun but there was a certain something I just didn't like and never wound up buying it, I really wish a new type of game would come out like tribes 2, jetpacks are too much fun.. when you go back to a standard fps without jetpacks you feel like your so restricted in terms of movement!
