Anyone here play Tribes? Not Tribes 2, I don't talk about that one.

Anyone see the new Vengence screenshots?
 
Yes I have played Tribes since late 98'. I was on the OGL ladder early 99' in Tribes best days. Have gone to UVALAN a few times, its a Tribes based lan. Last year they had a few developers of Vengance and showed us some pics never before seen, and even played it on a huge screen for everyone to see.

I was in the Tribes 2 beta, and it was horrible. T2 isnt 50% what Tribes was.

Its by far the best team based online game to me. Its just got a much higher learning curve than many players can deal with. You simply cant join up and play anywhere near the level that vets play as.

heh, i started a clan, then the people kicked me out.. and then, they went to the top in OGL.. bleh, i'm bitter

i might just take up the renegade2.0 mod again, ever played on Combat PA 2.0? awesome modded renegade2.0a mod. renegade3.0 isnt bad either.

try playing with the aerial thingy mod, where you have to use APCs to attack, and if you hit the ground, kaboom. takes a lota teamwork.
 
Tribes 2 was the greatest multiplayer game of its time, it still is but nobody plays it/ has good servers.

Everyone should go out and buy it for 10 bucks. The game no longer has many bugs and is always a blast. I've loved it since day one.

Vengeance better bring the Tribes series back with a, well, vengeance :)

I can tell you never played the original Tribes. T2 sucked in comparison. ;/
 
ummm the clan i started was SSF, then they later merged with some other clan.. i THINK it was then called SCS? maybe.. not sure: since i stopped keeping track of people when i stopped.
 
Dude I played Tribes 1 for hours on end. I liked Tribes 2 slower pace as it seemed more tactical and the vehicles\deployables were so much improved over Tribes 1.

Did you play the Classic mod in Tribes 2? It is now an official mod that comes in the last patch.
 
I can assure you neither SSF nor SCC were ever #1 on the OGL ladder. :D

No I never tried classic, but I heard it was much better with it.

I remember you, You asked me to join SSF, name was Still Onslaught I beleive..
If it is i even remember when u asked me to join, were we kinda having a battle for top kills on a pub and u were like uhh this is kinda weird but u wanna join my clan..

You were a killer player with that magnum, the clan went gay and i left, after they kicked you
 
I ran a clan in Annihilation mod called KWSN (Knights Who Say Ni). We were the best clan in the mod pretty much the whole time we were around. I'm done with Tribes now, though.
 
The most dominate team was IE. Then probably S3 and 5150. Along with other greats TF, BMF (made from partly tribes developers), and a few others.

You guys arent talking about mods like Renegades are you.. ? Cause Im talking about just base.
 
My orgianl Tribes install is corruptted, gonna have to dig out the disk to reinstall again.....classic. On par with Privateer as an all time great.

I played tribes at E3 when it was in Atlanta in 98. I even bleed my eyes out for about 6 months and had to play in software renderer until they game out with a patch for non-3dfx cards.
 
Well that exoplains it, I didnt play anything anything but base.
 
I never did play Tribes 1 sadly, but I did play Tribes 2. I still play it today with friends of mine. It's one of the very few games that seems to run well on dialup. I usually only stick to the classic mode servers unless friends of mine end up picking the servers.
 
base is fun, but i'm way too impatient for that, it takes on average about 5 minutes for a heavy to move to the enemy base..

i never really played heavies when i was in a clan playing tribes and tribes2. but some of those guys who were heavies could move like light armored guys. it was cool to see
 
I remember KWSN, wasn't a bad clan. Right now I'm with w00. A good MDH clan.
 
I love tribes and tribes2... I played Tribes competively and it was great. I never liked any of the mods ie renegades one bit. Are there still non-modded ctf servers for both?
 
alright, i installed it again, patched it, played it.. and got my ass whooped by all the players on the server... so hard to start over again..

BUT

i airdisked someone on the first map i played! booyah!!!!!!

Too bad I never really got into T2, considering how much work some of my clan members put into Warped.
 
Tribes was good, I still play once in a while. Tribes2 I cant get enough of! I've got about eight other games that are half finished on my shelf right now because I'm a Tribes2 junkie! I must play about 16hrs a week(plus work full time and be a father of three). I was in a few clans, but I'm freelancing because teammates cant seem to get together for practice/competition.

Playing in a well polished tribe/clan is awsome but I never got into one for tribes2. I could go sniping or go on flag runs or just walk around for hours with deploying things hardly seeing any action, whatever it was still fun.
 
For Tribes 2 I don't really like the way they changed and put everything together into it. The invo's and all that. I like it old school style when you gotta blast the guy outta the station with a disc.

god i miss playin Tribes
my clan only got to #11 on the OGL
it was IR btw
and i had a few old old friends in IE and 5150 like 5150 RealistiK and FSB-SPY
i played with them way back in Jedi knight when we were all n00bs to online games
my god i miss those days when games were great
and if my mouse didnt fuck up in the game after playing for 5 minutes i would still play it cuz tribes > all other games

Tribes (base) was amazing...when everyone came together and did their job, it was like an orchestra. I played for about 2 years with a good tribe...never got too high in OGL, but we made it fun. We had bi-weekly practices like it was a damn football team, then matches, reviewing match recordings, the whole thing. I burned a cd back then with all my scripts and whatnot, dont have any of my old match recordings though...makes me sad.

Heavy runs, skiing, flag runs...ah damnit, what a game :)

too long ago.. i played about 4-5 years ago. Used <SSF>Shadowhawk before i stopped playing.
 
I found Tribes2 at Compusa for $9.99, is it worth getting?

edit: got it.. WORST mistake EVER.
pathetic game.
and EVERYTHING is FLUFFED on my 9700Pro??? what the hell???????

:confused: Dude, If you were expecting "Half Life 2", I could have told you what was up ahead of time. The graphics are good for a game out in - what - 99'/00'? Honestly, what were you expecting for $10 ( you can get it for $5 at Wal Mart/$6 at E.B.)? I dont play for the graphics alone, I play for the action.:cool: ;) Play the origonal tribes and then tell me about the graphics!

Seriously WTF, the game has hella good graphics especially for its time. Check your damn settings. The gameplay is king and introduced vehicles into multiplayer gaming.
