Tri-SLI + physics

Is it possible to have 3 GTX 260's in Tri-SLI and a 4th GTX 260 dedicated to physics? Not really caring that it is probably massive overkill, just curious if it is doable?
 
4th GTX 260 as physx? I'm not sure if you could have a 260 as the 4th card, but I have seen 3 dual slot cards such as a 260 and a 4th card (9800gtx or something) as the physx processor.

I hope you have a really high air flow case, heh.
 
Look at the Classified from EVGA... it's designed to have 3 TRI SLI cards then a single-slot like 9800GT for Physx.

Unless you're WC'ing it'd be really hard to get 4 GTX260's in one -spot.
 
You would need a 10 slot case to fit the 4x double width cards.

I've had 4x 9800GX2's in one case so 4x GTX260's in a case is easily do-able.

Thanks guys, I am not terribly worried about room, I am more concerned with the setup. From what I have been reading on Nvidia's website is that the physx card needs to be a different card. Any reality to this...

I don't think so. Just pick which one you want to run PhysX though nvidia's control panel.
 
4th card can't be the same as to what you use for tri-SLI.
 
I've tried having identical cards in the motherboard and the software won't let you choose 1 for physx, at least mine wouldn't (maybe because i was in the 2nd slot, might need to be in 3rd). Anyways, If you have tri-sli, I doubt you would notice a boost from a physx card lol.
 
It never did for a customer of mine...

But is it a real limitation or just a fluke in that situation? I can not recall hearing anything about such a limitation and a quick scan of the available material on Wikipedia and the nVidia site doesn't reveal anything either.

you would notice a boost in measured fps in a high-physx game. however, im stiill not convinced that you humans can tell the difference between 75 fps and 80 fps. aka it would not be worth the money, but it would be quite [H]ard.
