Ok. Basically need to know if anyone has done this, or knows how i can accomplish this properly.

Scenario: Three 2005fpw dell LCD monitors

Video card 7800GTX dual DVI.

How can i get 3 LCDs out of this setup? Or do i need to add another card. I dont know if i can hook up say, 2 monitors to the dual DVI ports, then a 3rd to the VGA, or what. Thanks for any insight on this.

Yes, if you disable SLI via the driver, the 2 cards can be used independently and you can conceivably support up to 4 monitors. You can always re-enable SLI when you play games.

Would a 2nd card being a 7800GTX in SLI work?

You can't use dual monitors in SLI, but yes you can with two vid cards on a MOBO that supports two vid cards.

What are you going to use the three monitors for?

If you are just going to span them for multitasking, then there is no reason to put another top end video card in there. Just get a 6600gt or something like that. Its perfectly capable of doing whatever you want it to do, and you can just game on one of the 7800gtx screens.

I was going to sell my current 6800 gt/opteron setup, but I think im just going to keep it as my workhorse and use the 3rd LCD it on that and just use Win2VNC or synergy to make it seem like a 3rd desktop. Then ill just stick with one 7800 gtx in my new one and dual off that.

Thanks for input.
