Wire Magazine is featuring a list of the most trashy, tacky and tastless computer mods they could find. You guys have seen a lot of these before because we’ve posted them here but there are a few in here that you might not have seen yet.

The bold, the brave and the beautiful get too much attention. It's time to celebrate what defines most exotic PC case designs: trashiness, tackiness and pure tastelessness.

that Gold macbook is not tacky, I think it came out great. I hope he does the black / gun metal one.

the 5th pic (golden macbook) worklog is in the cool cases worklog forum...

I was disappointed there were no pictures of the making of the female form one. That could have been interesting.

I like the gold Mac laptop too, but I found their article to be way off base..

Macs have always been a mirror of the owner's essential nature as a geek artiste, not merely an ostentatious display of money.

wha.. Mac users are geeks who doesn't flaunt money? I thought Mac users are the opposite :p

Well said. Mac's are specilized. I really want a macbook, but the price is just too much. One day I will pick one up cheap or even a used one. I am into Photoshop/Photography alot now and there are some really sweet OS X based photo apps.

My team here at work got a huge laugh out of the Goat*** and though the wood notebook wasn't "tacky".

Those were some pretty good mods. The people who wrote the article clearly are not [H].

That female form mod was ultra cool, kinda in a spirit of ancient greek statues.

I'd take that on my desk any day.

Pretty poor chooses and written article in my opinion.
While some of those are in the "group" upon which they are trying to describe, many of them are not and should be replaced by something else.

I don't agree with any on this list.

This author is basically making out that creativity isn't the result of a good case mod, but that it's rather tasteless, trashy, tacky, etc.

If these are trashy or tacky, then I think the author sums up all cases that has any flare or anything unique done to them... including cases with windows.

Trashy or tacky I would expect from somone who tossed their computer in a moving box and used duct tape to make it hold... more like ghetto computer mods.

Dude...

This guy bashed the Exodus.

Fuck that guy. No, seriously. That was a badass mod. I remember reading and seeing it HERE.

I hope the author chokes on a carrot.

I think the only case that belongs up there is the beaver. Everything else seems to be pretty normal, or, for a couple, great mods that look well done.

Another reason why I don't read wired magazine.

Wow, Monarch's Hornet made the list. I always thought Vinyl stickers we're always a bad idea, and looks like someone agrees. I always like the Hornets though.

I agree. I remember that mod as well and have always thought it was pretty damn unique and creative.

Actually, some of them weren't that bad. I think wired is trashy and tasteless. I never picked up their magazine for several years now, and I don't think I've missed out on much either.

Some of those were actually nice, like the Macbook. Some were lame, and a few were NASTY. It's obvious they really didn't do their research and just found a few weird cases online and picked those. Kind of a sad article for Wired...
