Well a friend of mine got a viewsonic 22" WS [16/10] and is wondering how he could transport it to a lan party ... any suggestion?

We doubt a big bag would do the job but maybe we're wrong.

Might there be some issues with static? Suggestions?

Thx!

I know there was a guy on [H] awhile ago who was making custom carry cases for that purpose. But those were for dell's 24 and 20 inch models.

Suppose there's no longer the original package at our disposal?

The real problem is really protecting the viewable area of the screen, 'cause the rest isn't a real problem

And what about static? Does anyone know if it could be an issue?

static shouldnt really be an issue. I would attach some kind of hard covering to the front of the monitor like a thick sheet of plastic or somthing. held on with velcro straps.

I would be careful if plan to lay it down on its side. With a small monitor, it may not be an issue, but with LCD TVs, stores won't even let you load them in your car/truck/van laying down. The weight of the electronics behind the panel, when vibrated, can impact the back of the panel, causing light/dark spots, possible dead pixels. I would say original box is you best bet. Barring that, put something hard over the screen, and face the screen into the beat seat, standing up. Put something in front of it to wedge it in, and keep it from moving, but nothing that will put pressure on the back of the panel in excess of the force that you would use to hold it, or pick it up.

Well thx for you reply folks. Hope that'll make him change his mind about transporting his lcd to my house :D

I just got a brilliant idea: whether he carry his lcd OR he'll have my old black and white 13" tv :p :p That would be awesome to play company's of heroes as it is a ww2 universe

If anyone have other ideas they're always welcome !

I always wrap my screens in blankets and stuff pillows between the towers and lcds to keep them from moving. So far this seems to work great.

Last time I had to transport my LCD, I reclined the front seat of the car, and laid it face up there. Worked for the shot distance I was going, but whenever I have to haul it a long distance, I put it in the original box, unfortunately, I lost the packing material, so precautions still have to be taken. The most annoying part for me, and other owners of Samsung panels, is the spring loaded bases.
