Transferring data from sata harddrive to another computer

Ok. My computer with Windows Vista and a WD1500ADFD decided to not work, but there are some files in there that I really need. (Microsoft word files, pictures, etc). I want to transfer them to my other computer, which is using Windows XP and has available sata slots. What would be the easiest and cheapest way to transfer the files? Is there a way? If its possible to just hook up the WD1500ADFD to an available sata slot and use it as a disk drive, that would be awesome.
 
yes just pull out the drive then connect to the second computer

simple as it is

boot in to XP like regular, browse the drive

then copy & backup
