I'm looking to transfer a saved game (or all of them actually) after I reformat my hard drive. What files do I need to backup to make sure that everything is moved over properly without losing anything? Thanks.

On 2 windows XP machines I just copy over the saved games files from: my documents/my games/Fallout3/saves. I just toss the last save on a flash drive when im going to use the laptop to play. You are going to want to re-install any mods you have as well. If you have vista/win7 there may be a diffrent location to get the files and other concerns as well.

that is all you need to do.save my documents/my games/Fallout3/saves.My save is 1.6 gig.Hell of a save I might add.

1.6 gigs? I've copied the four files within the save folder numerous times going from 1 HD to another and I've never noticed them being particularly big. In fact I seem to recall they're quite small. Hmmm, I guess I'll have to pay attention next time.

I've done it numerous times, just copied the folder in my user folder then pasted it in after I reinstalled on the fresh OS.

i know its an old thread, but it closely mtaches my question.

for Windows Vista, i know you get a different set of saved games depending on whether or not you tell it to play with a Games for Windows Live account or not. the My Game Saves\Fallout3 folder looks to be NON -GWL saves.

anyone know where the GWL saves are kept? it does not appear to be stored in the XLive folder (users\appdata\microsoft) and searching for *.fos files does not seem to bring it up either.
