i just installed 2 36 gig raptors in raid 0 config. i allready have 2-80gig satas in raid 0 that have all my games and operating system on it. what i want to do is take battlefeild2 from the boot drive and put it on the raptors.i want to make sure i get the setup and game info transfered too. whats the best way to do this without uninstalling and reinstalling? my system is in my sig

I don't suppose you made your own partition for games? If that's the case just copy em over and change the drive letter.

hmm.. I would say the best way to do this uninstalling and reinstalling BF2:
  • try to move the folder and see if BF2 still plays.
  • if not, move it back, run regmon and then run BF2
  • change every registry entry that points to the old installation path to point to the new path
  • move BF2 again and try
  • if it still does not work move it back, run filemon and edit the configuation files appropriately
  • move it over to the new path

of course, you could just make a backup of the dir, uninstall it, install it to the new path and then see if everything is ok, copying savegames etc., which would likely be faster and easier.

i used the disk that came with the raptors called data lifeguard. it has a program on it that allows you to transfer programs from 1 disk to the new 1. i did it and then launched the game from there and it worked. but i dont know how to get rid of the original bf2 thats still on the boot drive. and what about the main profile files in my documents. those files have all the setting for bf2.

no need to move that.

got it to work. it seems like the pair of raptors are slower than the the pair of maxtor 80 gig in raid 0. the burst speed is slower. mabey i dont have them config. right. now i need to make a virtual drive for bf2. so i dont have to use the cd drive.
