Transfer to my server is like a roller coaster...

I was wondering if there is something I'm doing wrong or you can suggest... I have a house file server 5 scsi drives in Raid 0 running off a compaq smartarray 3200 controller... when I transfer files to it and watch my task manager graph the progress it is like watching a roller coaster... it goes up real fast stays there for a few seconds and then back down to nothing.. then a few seconds later back up and so on .... I just set up the server after some issues with it so it could just be it but it didn't file transfer like this before... any help?
 
I've had this happen before....
If you are running any anti-virus software, temporarily disable the auto-protect feature and try a test transfer.
 
It was one large file about 13gigs... I was transfering from my maxtor 7200rpm 120gig drive to my Raid 0 file server. The raid is with 5 10K rpm scsi drives ... this was done through a dlink router....

I'll try the norton antivirus thing b/c I know I had that on... thanks..
