Is it possible to transfer a logical partition that has windows xp to another drive as the main partition and make it bootable? I have a computer that has a dual booted setup, win2k on the main boot and xp as a logical and I want to just use xp since 2k serves me no purpose on that machine anymore. This setup currently resides on a 40gb drive that i want to use for a file server im going to constuct, i want to transfer it to a 13gb drive im not using.

I have transfered the files already but I know in their current state they are not bootable, can they be made to be?

Once you clone the logical partition over, you might be able to boot from the XP CD and run a repainr install. I don't know if that will overcome a logical partition or not, but it's worth a shot.

One a side note, this is why I only use primary partitions whenever I cut a drive up. Each one is independent of the other partitions on the disk.
