Actually, DrK's basic install page can be taken as a base and improved upon and stuck on the hardfolding website.King should be the one who should chime in here and let us know whether this is doable by him. I still have copies of the mac install guides. The stuff Dr. K has on his webpage is good too.

DR... What are you thinking? How can we use them faq's to [P]imp the
[H]ardFolding page to make that more of our "headquarters" and using
the forums to be more of a backup (still a hang out) but we still need to
get things moving some more on this site, I am sure King is just waiting
for feedback, so lets keep this ball rolling!

well majic said that he is updating the install guides b/c the windows one is out of date. I can do the basic info stuff as that is out of date too. Hopefully majic is reading this. I can volunteer efforts but I wanna make sure efforts are not duplicated.
 
I'll throw in a offer to proof and edit anything new (proofing mostly because I am a horrid writer) just as a fresh set of eyes. I do have to admit that page is impressive, but Kodiak is right, we can do better. :)

 
All my folding guides are for the latest clients. Majic dosent have to re-do them. I dont have anything to do with the hardfolding.com site. I PMed King and told him that he can steal/use my guides to put on the site, that is up to him. PM me with anything else I can add to my site. The Mac Installer links are going up tonight ( I hope) :D

I don't understand this post: I understand your position to be moderator, thereby you enforce the rules in an impartial manner. But I am sensing some disharmony directed at hardfolding.com, King and perhaps Majic. I didn't realize that folders for the team were being directed to a third site -- why is that? Hardfolding.com is the team's site and team resources should be put there. I am sure that King hasn't and would not STEAL anything.

Something is up here and it should be resolved.

By steal the Dr is joking being funny you know comical. He means if someone will host them he will give them the files. The good doctor spent the time rewriting them and he is all for sharing them but he can't put them up at hardfolding.

On the flipside. Dr have you sent the files to king? Not just pm'd him since he does lurk mostly.

That is why they haven't been placed on hardfolding.com, we have to get away from 3rd party sites and back to one site and linking wasnt an option.

Now that Ive got permission to add the guides I'll start adding them tonight at least as soon as I get some coffee in my system.

King, DR_K the new faq looks real good on hardfolding.com, but I noticed one thing. It explains to download the client, but not where to put it. Should some mention of suggested locations be noted since not all people like just having it in a folder on their desktop or wherever they downloaded it?

 
That is a good point Phantom.. I totally missed that :)

Even with the 10 people who posted in March asking about the
very same thing.. (well and how it relates to stealthing..) :rolleyes:
 
on a windows machine, I put it in "C:\Program Files\Folding @ Home" (or D, when it's available).... IT doesn't stick out as much as having a F@H on the root of C:/D:.... That, and it's a program... so therefore should go into program files :D call me weird.......

I never save anything to the desktop... I start deleting useless icons when I'm to "fix" someone else's PC... IE has favorites, DO NOT have 75 shortcuts to web sites on your desktop........................ *sighs* Sorry, had to fix the secretary's PC this morning because of that........
