Hi , i work for www.hitechshowcases.com and i am also studing to be a microsoft administrater . Anyway , in the last 5 months i have learnt a lot about pCs and it has kinda grown on me . I work for a company who make showcase and i was wondering if i would have problems if i made a case made of toughened glass?

I will be most probably using 6mm.

Please let me know if i would be ok to go through with this and will not walk into a great problem which i may have not over looked

There will be intake fans i will be using so i dont think its going to get too hot.

If you check the website you will have more idea of how it will look.
 
I can't see why not. I know plexiglass lets in more electromagnetic interferance than a standard aluminum case, not sure about glass though. One thing that might be a set back is weight. But if you don't really plan on moving it much you should be fine.

Glass shouldn't be a problem. Just know that building custom cases you'll always have a few problems no matter what. Would probably look nice if you put a perforated metal on the inside. Gives people more to look at. A regular glass case is no different than, say, a clear acrylic case.
 
Its going to use aluminum frame and aluminum corners. Also i first decided i should make a tower out of it then it clicked to me why not make a media center.

Let me do some drawings and see if there is any complications with the material i am going to use.

The tower involved with too many different dimensions such as writer , floppy and hardrive , but if i make it a media center then it will be perfect.That will make it far easier and it will look better as in display cos all the wiring i can hide under the board.

There is this one thing that is still confusing me and that is what do i use for a reset and power on switch , i want it like a panel with the same dimension of a dvdrom(front).

If anybody knows of wehere i can get something like this , preferably somewhere in the UK please let me know
 
You can easily drill holes in that stuff? I would say thats probably going to be the toughest part.

I would generally advise against glass cases. It may seem cool to start with, but wont it get really heavy, carrying it from place to place?
 
Tell you the truth its not really for something i am going to use but something i just want to make and may enter a few competitions .

Thats really it and gives me a hobby or a goal. I am doing A+ so it keeps me focused too.

Toughened glass is really hard stuff , there are loads of thickness , for that i will have to take my brothers advice but it will not move after i have placed it somewhere.

Most likely end under a HDTV as a media center and it will be the desktop slim type 100mm height, have to do research on HSF , PSU placed flat and use a atx board with normal size PCIexpress cards.
