total crossfire noob here- Can I simply disable crossfire through ATI software?

When I finally get my crossfire system up and running...I will have dual 5870's in the system. If I want to try Eyefinity, can I simply disable one of the 5870's through software instead of having to pop the card?

Ive never used crossfire so I am planning ahead.

I appreciate any replies
