I was looking into the Qosmio F40-ST4101 laptop from toshiba. Does anybody have any experience with this laptop or a similar setup? I am wondering how good it does at gaming. (bioshock, crysis, BF2, etc).

Thanks!!

For around $1300 it has:

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.20GHz, 4MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB)

1024MB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz SDRAM (1024MBx1) (plan on buying 2 x 2gb sticks for $100 at newegg.com)

15.4" Diagonal Widescreen WXGA TruBrite® Display (1280x800)

NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GT w/256MB DDR2 discrete graphics memory + plus up to 256MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory using NVIDIA® TurboCache™ technology

120GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA)

It won't be pretty. My Asus G1S struggles on med-low settings in newer games at 1280x800. Remember, though, that the gpu in this computer is noticibly faster than that in the Toshiba.

I would urge you to reconsider, and buy a cheap laptop and a decent desktop, unless, that is, there is a viable reason against having a desktop. You'll get much more performance for your money if you reconsider.

I just want the laptop to browse and play a few games while watching tv. i already plan to get a q6600 and 8800gt/3870 next year.

I need something to do while sittin on the couch ya know? The wife is getting it for me! XMAS! :)

Or I guess just use it for low-medium on new games and high on the older...
The 8800 one should be out soon, but dam, she wont go for that much cash....
