he's a hardware guy - low level io, ring 0 coding, etc. Of course he's not interested in virtualization - it's totally contrary to his goals and what he works on. :)
 
No, he doesn't say virtualization is evil. He says software/OS-level virtualization is evil. ;)
 
Well..the simple fact of the matter is virtualization is the foundation for self service IT..so too me as an it engineer..it will eventually have a heavy impact on jobs etc. My thought on this and the steps I'm taking in my career are leading me to become heavily involved in the design and implementation of such technology. If you can't beat'em..join'em...lol.

One problem with the article (and many comments on /. about it) is that virtualization isn't just about consolidation. Yeah, I can put 15 apps on a single box as well..it's about standard OS images and drivers, easy containment, encapsulation, fast provisioning, etc. Far more to it than just consolidation.
