Tools to fix frequent load cycle problem

The WD Scorpio Black is notorious for clicking from frequent load/unloads on Linux. This is due to an energy saver feature in the firmware. It seems the Hitachi Travelstar also has this issue.

Western Digital and Hitachi have DOS utilities to adjust the settings. You have to connect the HDD to a motherboard SATA and boot from a CD/USB with the tool on it.
