Hi all, i have a tool kit... it "says" that it was designed for computers.

But the ends of the screwdrivers have this coating on it. The tips are Magnetic.

Is it safe to use these magnetic screwdrivers for a computer?

~Thanks

100%, unless they are some sort of superconducting magnetic screwdrivers......

anything in a computer that is sensitive to magnetic properties is shielded enough to handle most household magnets.

even ripping apart say a disk drive and stealing one of those magnets, then swiping it over another disk drive that is still intact probably won't do anything.

Like he says.
Not that'd I'd try. Old hard drives were the sources of the most powerful magnets I have :D

yes, i've built several thousand computers with magnetic bits. never had a problem arise from the magnets

of course it would probably leap out of your hand and attach itself firmly to the other HDD, forcing you to pry it off.:D

Those magnets are so powerful...they rock.

/edit: I use a magnetic screwdriver in my builds...no problems yet.
