too tight?

i know that the tighter the hsf is to the cpu the better the thermal transfer......but can you make it too tight? i tightened my hsf screws down till they wouldn't turn without putting a lot of effort into them and possibly stripping them out.....is that too much?

Nope. When you crack the board it's too much.

That's about the only criterion.

^^^^Nah, that cracking sound just means your getting a good seal. You need to keep turning till the cracking sound stops.

Not really. Just turn the screws till they stop. That thermal paste is there for a reason.
