I bought a Zalman NB47J to cool the NB on my IC7 Max III.
Now, since theres no mounting holes on the mobo, I bought some AS epoxy and was just gonna "glue" the sink onto the NB. Thinking ahead now I am considering going to watercoolinf down the road and thought it might be a pain in the rearend to get that heatsink back off. SO...
I took the fan off the stock HSF unit that came on the NB, and removed the wire that clipped it onto the board. I lined it up on my zalman, and although the bends on the center don't reach the sides, I WAS able to secure it and clip it down onto the rings on the board. However, it took a good deal of pressure to do this, and I was almost afraid I would crack the NB.
So here are my questions:
1. Could too much continuous pressure on the NB crack/damage it? If I can get it on will it be safe?
2. Is it likely the rings that secure the wire clip will pull out of the mobo?
3. If I epoxied the zalman to the NB, would it be difficult to remove it down the road and what methods are suggested?
