Too much load for my swiftech kit?

right now i have 2 7800gtx's, and 1 optie 170 being cooled by my swiftech kit w/ a 120.2 rad.

Gtx's idle at 35c and optie idles at 33c.

I want to add a northbridge block to the setup to cool the soon to be here dfi lp ut sli-dr expert northbridge. Is this going to be too much stress on the system?

Am i better off just adding a smaller 6mmID/8mmOD loop for the chipset using a smaller pump and 120.1 rad mounted in the front intake of my v1200b?

maybe just add the chipset block and a 120.1 rad into the existing loop?

opinions? other ideas?

Thanks in advance!

What are your load temps right now? The easiest way to tell whether your radiator is handling the heat output is to look at the difference between idle and load. If the load temperatures are extremely high it shows that the radiator is having problems keeping up with the heat output. This causes the coolant temperature to rise. The hotter the water is, the more heat will dissipate into the air. The coolant rises to a point at which the radiator is dissipating the same heat that your components are putting out.

Anyways, a chipset doesn't put out much heat, I would say that you should be fine adding it to your loop.

My Chipset hits 50c+ after 10 minutes of Quake 4. It's the hottest thing in my computer, and the loudest.

Just because it gets hot, doesn't mean it is putting out a tremendous amount of heat...not compared to a CPU or GPU. Also, if you are at 50C I think you need to look at your case airflow, my chipset temp never reached that high on my Ultra-D...and that was with one case fan.

The rest of my system speaks for itself...

CPU 28c Idle, Stock cooler.
GPU 35-38c Idle, Stock cooler

I have that whiney little Northbridge fan turned town, it spins up at 55c, because I can't stand it.

you also need to take into account that your nb has a much smaller hsf, if your northbridge were to have the same heatsink as ure cpu, it would be much cooler.

Not to long ago i posted these results. It was a Apex kit with a pair of Maze4's and an EK chipset block. Here I think those are acceptable temps, however, that was at stock voltages all around.

What block are you planning on using on your chipset?

have not decided on chipset block yet, so that is up in the air.

Wow, chipset temps are really high with watercooling, scary

yea man, my loop is under stress too and i need a chipset block. i was more thinking of doing a secondary smallerr bore loop to cool the chipset and ram for the hell of it, but in reality, my setup could deal with anotehr rad in the main loop.

your temps themselves are alright, its just whetehr or not you think you are becoming temp or noise limited

If you have the room, put a 120mm fan to blow on the chipset. Dropped temps by10c and reduced the irritating, high rpm fan noise by 200%.
