Too Hot?

Had GPU-Z running in background and after a BSOD I checked the log, all 3 ares are hitting 100+ with two of them hitting 110c. Im assuming this is WAY too hot...but I dont know for sure. I actually hacked apart my HDD cage on my case so I could spread my cards out and still having heat issues I guess. I've got my cards in slots 1, 5, and 7 so that only 1 card's fan is sandwhiched next to another..guess thats not enough...if only I had enough money to WC these puppies...

100+C ? Yeah, that is too hot IMO.
How many fans you have in your machine?
 
90-100 is hot but within normal range. 100+ is too hot. Just a rough guideline but most modern gpu's can be expected to handle those temps.
 
How high does your fan profile max out on your 6970s? Are they reference blower fan designs or other?

What power supply is running your rig? Also can you take a pic of the 3 cards in your case so that we can see the spacing between them and case fans etc...?
 
BFG ES-1000w PSU....2 XFX reference design cards sandwhiched together and a non-reference sapphire card that has 2 slots of space between it and the other two 6970s. Looks like fan profiles never broke 76% even with the card hitting 101C. The card reporting 110C on the log im sure was pushing 100% fan speed....it sounded like I had a jet engine in my case.
 
It's possible your non reference design card could be flubbing up your airflow. Could always try sticking it on the bottom and move the reference cards up... see what happens.
Could be a potential shot in the dark. Seems to me that those non-reference designs could easily dump air downwards back to the bottom of your case. I know I only have 2x 6950 but I stuck my dual fan card on the bottom slot and my reference card in the top slot. The highest temps I see while gaming are like 75C on the top and around 70 on the bottom.

BTW what kind of OCs are you pushing on those cards?
