What a ridiculous price on this alienware! Someone must be crazy! I'd love to be the lucky punk who got this in on trade tho. I wonder what he offered in exchange?

I emailed the buyer, he said the original purchase price was 8 grand. including the 3 year onsite warranty and a lot of other useless crap.

the rapage rate was very high that day...

Alienware is damn nice but like everyone else said... too expensive. 2,600 for that computer probably isn't too horrible a rip if you have to have alienware. I don't but someone might.

Agree, Alienware look nice but are too expensive.

One of my friends almost bought one last year. Luckily he called me first. I ended up
building him a faster system for about 60% the price. Turned out nice, even though it was an Intel. ... j/k :)

am I just not getting it? $2800 seems like a good value for it

Yeah, I mean, $8000 is way too much for that system, but $2600 seems reasonable. I mean, if you were to build a system like that yourself, just the CPU and it's watercooler would cost $1500, add in the two Raptors, 2 gigs of memory, an ATI X800, and you'd get pretty close to $2600.

I thin Alienware charges on average much more than they used to because it is easier to build your own now, and they know that. So they moved the demographic to the rich, and or, PC Connoisseur type individual. Many of us here can build a PC that is just as fast and nice for $3000.00-$4000.00 (SLI).

well, the auction closed at $3050.. but the top three bidders backed out.. bet they were reading hardocp!

When I saw the price (now above $3,000), the 8k original price and the number of votes I thought for sure it had a 7800 Sli setup. Nope, a frickin X800? My X850XTPE was $450 and now can be found (with some finesse) for around $300-350! This thing should atleast have a 7800 or a X850 in it.

F that noise. I paid 1400 for a Sn25p, 3800 Venice, 2x1gb OCZ platinum, 74gb raptor, BFG 7800GTX and it will smoke that overpriced POS from here to whatever.

I have had some alienware machines. I like them. I have always said that the ALX is WAY too expensive, I cant see spending 5-6 thousand dollars on much except a car. I dont think you should base your feelings about alienware on this bloated model. Their Aurora models are more like it. This one was probably made before the 7800 was even thought of. (I do not work for alienware.) just two cents from a guy who actually owns a couple.
