Sorry guys but i am going to spend some time playing around with PhysX before i get her folding:D

As long as you are messing around with it, let us know how well you can run the PhysX driver off the secondary card and the graphics off your primary card. Now that a lot of us have 2 gpus in the our boxen...it would be nice to do something extra with them when the folding servers are down...or we just have that urge to shoot some zoombies....:D

Yes, I'd be interested in how this goes as well. I was planning to have 2 non-sli Nvidia cards in my main gaming system for this purpose (and for folding of course).

One question though, does having two mismatched cards still cripple the faster card or was that fixed?

 
what is the state of the art in PhysX? I am curious how they are being used in today's games.

Are they? And how or why would you use the second card to offload PhysX stuff to the second card?

Main reason for offloading in my mind is that running both PhysX and Graphics on one GPU doesn't make much sense. More than likely with a modern CPU, the GPU will be the bottleneck. Also physics-intensive scenes likely will be graphic-intensive as well so forcing the GPU to do both would likely mean a drop in fps or not much gain by running the physics depending on how they prioritize.

In my case I don't trust Nvidia chipsets so I doubt I'll be running SLI anytime soon. As such I'll have a GPU sitting doing nothing during games on my crossfire motherboard, might as well have it run PhysX.

As far as game support, UT3 runs it with a mod. Other than that I don't know, but I would imagine more will surface now that Nvidia owns the tech.
