If my video card is hitting 71c during HL2, is that a bad thing? :( Its a x800 pro VIVO flashed into x800xt pe

i'm planning on getting watercooling for christmas, but do you think i should downclock my card to normal xt pe speeds for now? its at 540/585

No, not at all. 71C is well within good operating range. Mine hits 70-75 regularly in a high intense app/game. If it starts to hit 95-100C, then, would I start to worry.

Mine is running 73c to 74c in HL2....no worries mate, that is well within "safe" limits, and by ATI's own admission, 80c is still fine too...90c is OK by ATI but not by me...yikes!
