Looking at the newegg deal where the extreme gamer is $60 which ends tonight.
I was fully convinced in getting this card as it should allow me to use my Stacker's front pannel. However I'm a bit shocked that there is no 7.1, no SPDIF input or output on the back, and no optical. My onboard sound has all these things.
Right now my onboard drives the z5500's and a pair of headphones AD700's plugged into the front of the PC. Sounds good to me, but I wonder what I am missing out on!
Will I hear a noticable difference in changing cards or will this basicaly only affect games? If only in games is the EAX 5 really worth the step from EAX2? Is it worth putting up with creatives horrible drivers? Is it worth the 90 down or $60 in the end? I kind of feel like I am downgrading! Or side stepping.
Please help me decide!
