None of my Sony FW900 / HP CRT brothers in here? Lol!

For that budget you can get it. I like gaming on mine more than my 2405FPW.

Eh... Sony FW900 = $250-$300 on Ebay.

Shipping for Sony FW900 to Jamaica? $250-$300...

You mean GDM-FW900 $250-300 on e-Bay. Shipping to Jamaica $20,000.

Ok, so one's in USD and one's in Jamaican $.

But yeah, the GDM-FW900 is an absolutely gorgeous display. I picked one up a bit under a year ago for $478 (US) shipped. IMHO it's the best gaming monitor ever made. There just isn't anything quite like playing a game at 2304x1440. Of course for work I'd rather have one of those 24" widescreen LCDs. Programming doesn't need superior response times, contrast, or color quality. Just nice sharp text. The Sony's sharp enough, but sharper and an extra 1.5" of diagonal would still be better.

As for the original question, I'd say go widescreen. Everything's heading that way. Some games won't let you use it and leave some blank space on the sides, but the rest of the time it's just so much nicer.
