To get a wired or wireless headset?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to replace my Siberia V2's (the cord permanently tangled upon itself years ago and now the whole cable is covered in tape to keep it from coiling) and I am wondering if I should get a wired or wireless headset. The nly reason I am thinking of a wireless headset is because the last two headsets I got permanently twisted upon themselves which was a huge pain in the butt.

yea cords suck, but wireless need to be charged. go wireless and get two of them so you can charge one and use the other is what id do personally, but i prefer external speakers for sound and just a one ear headset for chatting.
 
I would always purchased wired, as I have zero faith that a DAC internal to headphones can do a decent job in regards to audio quality. Then again, I'm an audiophile. *shrug*
 
Wired. Wrap the cable up neatly and use a zip tie of a Velcro strap to hold it together neatly to avoid getting it tangled. That is user error.

With proper cable management this will never be an issue. I have a Sennheiser Headphone hanger on the side of my desk that I hang my headphones on, the cable is Velcro wrapped to my desk with an appropriate amount of loose wire free. When I am done using the headset, I hang it back on the hanger. Never tangles ever.

Wireless is a decent idea for consoles when you would need to run a cable across the room.

Wireless is never as good or reliable as wired and as others have pointed out, you have to worry about charging. This may or may not be a big deal depending on your usage and ability to remember to plug them in when your done, however most wireless headsets these days come with non-removable batteries meaning you'll likely only have a usable headset for a few years until the batteries start to go bad. Wired headsets can last for years, making buying a more expensive one more justified (cheaper over a longer period of time).

And you hit pause and go make yourself a cup of coffee, grab a snack, or whatever. With a wireless headset, you don't have to take it off.

And you don't have to worry about cables snagging or tearing out if you suddenly turn around or accidentally tip the chair over or whatever.

You sound like you're as big a klutz as I am.
 
Wireless headphones are usually bulkier and some have hissing issues too. I would always opt for wired versions if I had to pick a mouse, keyboard or headphones.

yea im constantly running around taking a leak or grabbing a drink or whatever, i facking hate wires, always getting caught on something. buy two wireless ones and you never gotta worry about that crap ever again. use one charge one, switch and repeat. its a no brainer.

I'm the same way, just make sure the receiver is placed to where it can continue to work even if you walk away.

(My home has some really old walls and reception is just god-awful)
 
My Siberia cord is just recockulously long. So it was always dragging on the floor.

I wound up grabbing a package of stick-on hooks (like the 3M kind) and putting 3 of them on the underside of one of the tables I use. I then looped the extra and hung it in the 3 hooks.

The hooks are offset, (2 face away, one faces towads, so that you can't just accidentally tow them off the hook.

Works quite well actually, even if it IS a bit ghetto.

Wireless has too many pitfalls like disconnects, batteries and did I mention connection issues?

I've gone through three wireless headsets and now exclusively use a wired headset.

Never again.
 
All it takes is one "foolish maneuver" with a wired headset.

Yanking the cord out, while walking away. I killed a front-end mic input in the process.

That was in my BF:BC2 days. Wow, 5 years ago heh....

This is completely the opposite of my experience. I have a Creative Labs Soundblaster Rage headset and I plug the USB transmitter into my hub, the headset charges off another USB cable with a standard micro-USB connector, and that's it. No batteries to change.

If I want to seriously listen to music, I'll use something rather more appropriate.
 
Wireless all the way. If it out of charge you can always connect it to USB charger with USB wire and continue playing games why it is being charged.

I have no problems with Wireless as well. Use Creative Tactic 3D Wraith and no disconnects. Audio is decent and mic works very well.
