I tried looking up old threads on that matter as I remember reading them a while ago, but couldn't find specifically what I was looking for. So here's my question:

Is it better to enable catalyst AI? Or disable it? I know it's supposed to give some performance gains, but does that come at a cost in stability with other games?

I've read performance gains in Doom3 engine based games, Source engine based games, but on the other side of the coin, I hear everyone saying just to disable catAI. So I'm turn, and not sure which will benefit me. I do play said games, but other games as well. Any info you can toss my way would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, card is x800xl, cat 6.2's, .NET 1.1

Catalyst AI is supposed to introduce application specific optimisations which have absolutely no effect on visual output. Wether this is true or not I don't know. Personally I just leave it at "standard".

Standard enables driver bugfixes and optimisations for specific games. The high? setting however can lead to image corruption.
