Okay like the title states ...

Im new to eyefinity.

I have an Asus PA246Q - Love it! Just got it from Amazon for 483/Prime shipping was free next day.

I have two configurations in mind and a question or two at the end.

All 24" - All 16:10

TN - IPS - TN or IPS- IPS - IPS

For you EyeFin veterans out there, is it advisable to have all 3 the same exact model display or is it fine to mix types, keeping the same size and aspect, and still have a wonderful experience? I was thinking since EyeFin is all about peripheral vision then a IPS is not needed on the side screens.

If it is advisable to go all same make and model and get 2 more IPS I will. I just want to realistically avoid shelling out another $1000.00 on 2 more displays, but if I must I will, but only if I must.

I was thinking of a pair of HP LA2405WGs or something along that line for the side screens...

I do work as a contractor for the government and they have a lot of the LA2405's in their offices and they are actually really nice TNs.

Thanks.

My concern would be that you'd notice response time differences between the monitors when there was a lot of motion on screen...probably best to stay all the same I'd think?

Do you think mixing an Asus PA246Q and 2 ZR24Ws would work? They are all IPS after all.Just a little cheaper for the HP. I know it has a different IPS panel. Not as good as the Asus.

No. The Asus has 30-40ms of lag which is not practical for gaming, let alone Eyefinity while the HP's have 10ms.

If there truly is 40ms of lag then I must enjoy playing all my games with lag because I couldn't find it and I was looking hard. This thing responds quicker than my Asus 22" TN with an acclaimed 2ms response I purchased like 3 years ago. And it has maybe 10ms max input lag.

G2G != the input lag to be seen. I pay no attention to what the manufacturers claim for response times (my current monitor is 3ms if that can be believed....)

And again, it's not whether you like looking at 40ms of lag or can percieve it, it's whether you will precieve the lag when you are basically A-Bing two different monitors. And I bet you WILL notice. Take your old monitor, do eyefinity with it and move quickly - say turn around in an FPS. See if it looks disjointed.

IPS all the way. The TN panels on the side will stick out so much, plus the viewing angles of them on the sides will be super apparent.

My AW2310 doesn't look off from the side; I'd agree IPS the whole way, but ONLY because the OP already has an IPS panel. If the OP had a TN panel for the main panel, I'd say TN panels all the way.

If for any reason you must use a TN display in the 3 monitor eyefinity setup, that would better be place in the middle, in front of you, and the side ones should be IPS.

I've never had any problems with side views of my TN panels.. it's always the vertical that disappoints me.

I might just go with 3 of the same now because I love this freaking IPS. This is my first IPS and so far it blows away all TNs I have ever used in quality and color.

As far as input lag, I cant perceive it at all. I move the mouse and it just happens and fast. I'd say as fast as I could perceive a TN. I also move my character and it just happens. I still am trying to find input lag that I can notice and I just cant. Maybe some of you young 18 year old mega hard core first person guys could but im not 18 and im not a mega hard core fps shooter guy. Age does matter for sure. I used to be so fast and so good at quake2 and 3ta but the older I get the slower I can react to folks shooting back. Im 30 now so I guess it works for me at least.

Im gonna simulate this later. I think I understand what you are trying to say. You may not notice it on one LCD but with 2 different kinds you will notice a shift between the two. It will not look consistent or flowing right? There will be a perceivable lag between what happens on one and the other I am guessing.

Forgive me, i've always been a one screen gamer but I had a chance to eyefinitize at my friends house and I loved it but im new to this.

In your position I would consider putting a Dell U2410 in the middle, with the Asus screens on the side. The reason being, the thick bezel on the bottom of the Asus would make running the 3 screens in portrait a bit annoying otherwise.

With a U2410 in the middle (it's pretty much the same screen as the Asus from what I hear), you could tilt the 2 Asus screens so the thick bezel was on the outside edges.

Running 3 (or 5!) screens in portrait is one of the big advantages of using none-TN panels in Eyefinity.

Yeah true... i have 28 more days to return this lcd if i had too.

I wish someone in Atlanta sold ZR24Ws because I hear that is a great LCD also for eyefinity projects.
