TMPIN0 location?

Motherboard: Asus M4A785TD-V Evo
CPU: AMD PhenomII 1090T @3.7 (200x18.5@stock volt) with H50 push/pull
Case: Thermaltake Armor 8003BWS (2x120mm front, , 250mm side panel, 92mm rear + H50 set to exhaust, and of course the PSU)

My system has been throttling back since last night, and I couldn't figure out why until this morning. As soon as TMPIN0 reaches 60c the CPU multiplier drops to x8 until TMPIN0 reaches 54c. Core temps for all 6 never go over 45c. I've read where people say that TMPIN0 reads the VRMs, others say NB, others say under CPU socket temp. Until I get this resolved I have to disable folding. I need to know the location of this sensor and maybe a suggestion on how to add extra cooling to this component/zone.

Other than the climate change and my house being warmer than before, no other changes have been made recently.

On a side note, the VRMs and the heatsink covering the MOSFETs are too hot to touch. Is this normal? I'm tempted to go and buy a laser thermometer just to find out how hot they really get, but I don't know what the 'typical' temperature is for these.

**edit** I forgot to mention that I'm using HW Monitor.

I'm interested in finding out what the TMPIN0 and others refer to also fo rthe board in sig. I have heard TMPIN1 IIRC is CPU, but I would like to see some reference material to clear this up 100%.
 
Taking another stab at this thread, hoping that somebody can provide some sense of direction towards a solution. I don't suppose there's a temp monitoring program that specifically tells you the names of the probes, is there?
 
In AIDA64 at the upper portion of the debug report (Motherboard Info) this probe is "AUX", but the lower portion (Asus ATK0110) says it's CPU temp. I've read other threads where this number should be ignored and the core temp is the acutal temp, but I can't ignore it when I see my system throttle as soon as this probe reaches 60c.

the temp sensor is different on every manufacture's board. but in this case that would be your cpu socket temp. it sounds like you have the temp protection turned on in the bios which is usually set to 60C by default. its not uncommon for AMD boards to have a 10-15C temp difference between the socket sensor and the actual core temp.

a good example for the TMPIN0 sensor.. TMPIN0 on my biostar board was my chipset, TMPIN0 on my DFI board(socket 754) was my system/pcb temp, TMPIN0 on my asus m2n-sli deluxe board doesn't even work(shows -127C) because the sensor doesn't exist but ASUS forgot to remove the sensor reading from the bios.

knowing ASUS their bios probably haven't changed much but i believe the settings should be where the Qfan settings are.
