What do you all think about the tmobile one plan?

They keep changing it, starting to sound worse on each change.

It was awful when introduced, slightly less bad now. Either way I'm not a fan and staying on my current plan.

Good news? If you have a corporate/Gov't discount currently, it will also apply to the One plan. Which would save me 15%.

Either way, I won't be switching any time soon.
 
Sounds complicated as fuck. I'm happy with my unlimited 4G data for 6,5€/month (sms and calls 0,059€ each/min - basically I only use WhatsApp so no need to pay extra for packs that I don't use). Speed is capped at 4 Mbit down&up but it's just fine for mobile use or when I need hotspot. The burst before limiter kicks in is so high that browsing is fluid.
 
ehh I have my grandfather 2 100$ unlimited everything plan. 2 years strong and counting. If I get forced off I will jump on Cricket with my parents. I don't use that much data anymore really. I don't like what tmobile is doing with there new plans. People want flexibility but this ain't it.
 
First I work for T-Mo and am very familiar with this plan (also a bit biased so take that for what you will).

If you have a grandfathered plan such as the above mentioned 2 for 100 unlimited plan and thats it then this isnt a good deal for you.

This plan is actually very good for MOST people (most, not all). The vast majority of people do not use any hotspot at all. Also after seeing probably 3 or 4 thousand customers accounts I have only come across 2 people who have disabled the binge on feature so MOST also dont care about the DVD quality video (I played with it myself and could not see a difference on any of my devices). As such this T-Mobile One plan is pretty solid for most people because it gives them what they actually use, but doesnt charge extra for data heavy stuff unless you OPT to add it (the plus pack for 25 a month).

For a single user who uses next to no data then the Simple Choice North America plan with no data extra (has 2gb included) is the way to go. But for anyone who needed extra data it was an extra 15 bucks before for 6gb. Now its 20 bucks for unlimited. So while 5 bucks more it eliminates the 10gb for 20 bucks & the unlimited for 45 bucks. If you do want the HD & the Hot Spot its a total of 95 which is the same cost as before except the hot spot is now unlimited instead of 14gb. So its still a win there.

For a family plan (figureing 4 lines) 40 a line for unlimited is also pretty damn cheap. giving people what they need. There have been better plans in the past such as the 4 for 150 unlimited plan (what I currently have), but they dont stay available for long (once you get it T-Mo will not make you change though). This is even considerably less then Cricket with faster speeds (cricket is capped at 8mbps download on LTE). To compare 4 lines of unlimited on each it would be 200 on cricket including the auto pay discount & 160 + taxes on T-Mobile.

For me I have 4 lines unlimites for 150. Nobody has binge on disabled & nobody uses much tethering (I have used a little, but for what I have the included free 3g teathering will more then suffice). I also have 1 tablet that my daughter uses with 2gb of data that is currently 10 bucks a month. I am going to switch to the One plan at an increase of 20 bucks a month total for the fact that that tablet with 2gb will go unlimited and my kid uses all of the current 2gb high speed in 1 night of the 4 she spends at her moms house each month (would of been an increase of at least 30 to cover her usage before).

So is this the best plan ever for everyone... Not even close. Is it a pretty solid deal for current pricing across all carriers.. Yes, Very much so.
 
Am I understanding this correctly, with the One plan binge-on is effectively permanently on and you have to buy HD streaming passes to get over 480p video? To get HD Video, I need the One+ which costs an additional 25 per line?

Yup, but you can also get an HD video pass for a one day/time fee of $3 if you're not on the Plus plan.

I'm still good with my 6GB Simple Choice plan for now for my fam of 3 lines. With the data 20GB data stash, I'm pretty sure I'll be good for any times I'm away and use a lot of data.

Tethering took a big hit with this new plan though, before you got 14GBs included (at 4G/LTE speeds) included with their SC unlimited data plan, now you have to pay $25/line for it but you get unlimited* tethering at least.

*You may or may not get throttled past 26 (think it was) GBs.

It's gonna suck when they ditch the rest of the SC plans though, they're pretty solid as is, I think and would prefer they not tamper with them.

IMHO, I feel this plan is even more gimped than the Simple Choice NA, which was a gimped version of the first Simple Choice. I knew Tmobile's whole reasoning behind binge-on was to see how the market and their network would react to the added traffic so they could offer an unlimited everything plan. The final clue was the unlimited 4g they did over the summer. So now you get unlimited everything but you lose a whole bunch of features you had previously. It stands to reason that maybe 90% of the population wont use free international roaming and by dropping the features they can buy less tower time from their international counterparts. But, I still feel that these plans are costing the same and getting worse at the same time.

Well lets see.. Simple Choice to Simple Choice NA did not loose ANYTHING at all, but did gain an extra gb of base data & added the roaming in canada & mexico for free and all at the same cost so that was not gimped at all. Going to the T-Mobile one plan you get unlimited data without the expensive features that most people dont use for a hell of a lot less then current pricing so again not gimped.

Current pricing on Simple Choice NA individual plan with unlimited data & 14gb of hotspot is 95
T-Mobile One pricing for a single line with unlimited data is 70 or if you want the Plus options with Unlimited hotspot & unlimited HD its still just 95..

Current pricing on a family match plan with 4 lines of unlimited each with 14gb of hot spot is 220 a month.
Current pricing on a Simple Choice NA family plan with unlimited & 14 gb of hot spot on each is 280 a month
Current pricing on a family match plan with 4 lines & 10gb of data is 180 a month.
T-Mobile One pricing with Unlimited on 4 lines is 160 a month, or 260 if you got the unlimited HD & unlimited hotspot on all 4 lines.

So since the majority of folks do not need HD on a 5.5" screen & rarely use tethering it is a savings of about 60 a month compared to unlimited, & still a savings of about 20 a month compared to the 10gb plan.
 
This was definitely a huge hiccup in Tmobile's image of being super consumer friendly. Customers and fans were hailing them as the best "uncarrier" carrier by far. But these new plans look like something that AT&T or Verizon would throw out. Looks good on the surface, but full of gotchas. I'm on Tmobile and have loved every second of it, and do think they are the best carrier, but I don't feel nearly as good about them now as I did before. I do fully expect these plans to change and move to a more consumer friendly layout though. That's how Tmobile is stealing customers, is by NOT being like the other guys. I'm sure after all the bad press over the new plans they will release something that will make most of us want to switch.

But as stated before, I'm definitely not giving up my current plan until they make the new plans a lot better value.
 
Right now I'm on a plan where everyone gets 10 GB of 4G LTE data (tethering included) for four lines at $120 total with unlimited text and minutes. This One plan isn't much of an upgrade to me.

This plan isn't for everyone! Stay where you're at if you're satisfied, no reason to switch. 4 lines would be $180. Plus with your 10GB plan you get data stash. I'm on an unlimited plan and I use around 7-8GB/mo. If you're usage is similar, then you've got some stashed away.
 
10 GB is the stash max on my account. Since every line gets 10 GB a month anyways, it doesn't really matter. I also live in a city without the 700MHz. So my indoor coverage is worst than Sprint's.
 
I have wifi at the house and apartment. Both have lots of Windows. So I don't have any trouble at my places. My problem is restaurants or other venues.

Same here, pretty much every time I go into a restaurant or store, I lose cell signal and have to rely on any open WiFi for any connectivity, which most big stores have, but not restaurants (fast food excluded). It's pretty annoying coming from Verizon where that was never an issue.
 
I live in the New Orleans metro area and had Tmobile for a very long time. The signal strength and building penetration even after LTE was introduced was horrible. I travel by car to Orlando and reception never improved along the way. I have a coworker who was sucked into going with TMO recently because of the attractive pricing. He is regretting it now. Is anyone out there that has had a positive experience with TMO or is my experience isolated?
 
Yeah, T-Mobile in the northeast is amazing. Close to 100mbit speeds and as good a goverage area as AT&T/Verizon.
 
The 70 - 50 - 20 nonsense doesn't work. People shouldn't be forced to pair up with others and split the bill. Make all lines $50.

I also have the 2 lines for $100 Unlimited deal. Will not change until T-Mobile is no more.
I have Binge On turned off and I use HotSpot when I'm on the road with clients.

If you're going to stalk me, I hope you're at least a lady. But there are two major cities and a couple of smaller cities. I happen to be in a major city where TMO hasn't even tried making a deal, because Sprint for some reason tried to lease that very spectrum from a regional carrier a couple of years ago. And one year ago that spectrum leasing deal had been cancelled. And I guess TMO is just pissed at that regional carrier for giving Sprint that one year access for "testing" when Sprint doesn't even use that spectrum; Sprint was just fucking TMo. That's the only reason why I assume why TMo hasn't even tried leasing it and talking with channel 50/51 for simultaneous running deal like in NYC, etc.
 
I'm sure Sprint was trying to fuck everyone around. They are the neglected child that tries to get attention, and when they don't, they break things.

Thanks for breaking it down for me. After playing around in the plan manager I concluded that the one plan makes sense if you are buying additional data. I didnt spend time to see where the break even was between the simple choice + data vs one. But as you wrote out, if one is buying the most expensive data package + simple choice the one is cheaper. In my case, I am on the simple choice NA with no data, its 85 after tax and corp discount. One plan would cost me 120.

I have been on TM since last December (6Gplan) and have yet to see a single byte of data carryover. I've been tod 6 times "it will be fixed"

TM customer support sucks in my experience. I guess you get what you pay for.

I've used less than 500mb per month since last December. I should be maxed out on the carry over yet I have 0.
 
I am currently on the old web plan with unlimited data and txt and 100 mins call time for $33

I been also thinking of paying for two other family members and I think unlimited everything is great so I dont have to manage anything.

But I dont know.....70+50+30 = $50 per line. I wish it was more 70+40+20 = 43

It is 70+50+20.. Breaks down like this

Line:
#1 $70
#2 $50
#3-8 $20
#9-12 $30

So if you look at cost per line:
1 - 70
2 - 60
3 - 46.66
4 - 40
5 - 36
6 - 33.33
7 - 31.43
8 - 30
9 - 30
10 - 30
11 - 30
12 - 30

So up until line number 8 it keeps going down for the cost per line, but at the 30 dollars per mark it stays the same.
 
I'm currently on the simply everything plan. I pay $20 more a month for 7 lines (220 vs 240) vs the regular one plan but Im not locked into binge and I get 14gb per line of LTE Hot spot. I was wondering if there was a higher tier one plan, an additional $25 a line that would make my for 7 lines $395 before tax vs $240 now. The hell are they thinking.
 
I have to remind myself we are talking about CELL PHONE monthly fee's here, and not car payments.

WTF are we letting them get away with this?
