Am I correct in saying that a smtp server will only try TLS encryption if the server on the other end advertises a "250-STARTTLS" upon EHLO?
The issue I'm having is getting TLS to work to this company we regularly send mail to. I sent him our CA certficate (we self sign) and he said he installed it as a Trusted Root Certificate. However we still cant use TLS. So I telnet-ed to his server and saw that "starttls" was not listed. Am I right in saying the problem is in their end? I'm not having trouble with TLS to other servers which makes me believe its them.
