Hello. Looking to upgrade my current case, and the TJ07 is the one I have been following. To all the owners out there, in the end was the steep price warrented? I have my finger on the trigger, just want a little feedback before I follow through. Not many reviews on the web, and the stuff I am most interested in is the cooling, space, and overall construction quality. Thanks.

I love mine. It has lots of room, was easy to work in, easy to route cables and well built. The dual Power/Reset switch is slick, it has plenty of drive bays, and room for two large power supplies.

The only thing I had to do to mine was mod the side panel for two 120mm fans to cool my 7800GTXs; but if you got a card that exhaust out the back, or a non-SLI system, you shouldn't have to worry about that (and no, the heat wasn't was interfering with system stability, it was only annoying me).

I'll be keep mine for at least the next few years. It blows away the Lian-Li v1200 and CM Stacker 810 I had previously (the first lasted two weeks, the second six months, before I ditched them).

Arrow, what kind of temps are you noticing for the inside of your case & cards? My current setup is SLI with 6800GTs, but this TT case I have doesn't seem to move enough air to keep them cool.

Right now I'm playing with my airflow, but on my last COD2 MP session, the CPU maxed out at 38c, and was 35c for most of the time. The Northbridge stayed 35-36c. The two 7800 GTXs ran at 70c (this is with 2 120s in the side panel, over the GPUs; before they hit 80c). I did have two 7900GTXs in the case for a little bit, and they didn't hit 60c (this is before the mod or a drive bay fan). The stock cooling for the video cards isn't the best, but you can work with it. For CPU/NB cooling, it is the best case I've had. One thing you can do, without modding the case, is reversing the two 92mm fans to exhaust out the case, and add in a Sycthe Kama drive bay fan for intake, and it should keep your 6800s reasonably cool.

I don't hope my comments sound negative, because this case is worth the money, and it has a lot of possibilities.

Not at all. In fact I am glad you responded because my setup is reasonably close to yours (FX-55 with XP120, SLI, Asus board, 2 gig of RAM), so your input is golden. Thanks for the info. Anyone else care to share their experiences with the TJ07?

I'm pretty happy with the TJ07. Slapped a A8N32 with X2 4800+ processor and SI-120 HS with a Panaflow M1 fan. Left the case fans stock and put a Scythe drive bay fan assembly (replaced the fan tho with a Vantec fan of some sort) to blow more air in. The load temps I see while stress testing with Prime95 was perhaps 1C higher than my noisier (slapped higher cfm fans in it) original Stacker that's right next to it and with similar hardware. So about 48-50C which isn't bad for a warm So. CA room with four space hea.... systems. The X1900XTX gets warm with stock fan speeds but with tweaks, it stays around 65C and below even if it does sound like a hair dryer. I'd buy one again easily.

One final question, are there any up-and-coming cases I should be monitoring? Or is this case a safe bet for the foreseeable future (2 years?)

I bought one right when they came out. PC-V2000 is much better imo. The hdd cages crack your sata connectors. No clearance. Plus on the pc-v2000 you get single screw doors. The ss case has like 4 screws for each door. the lian li is much cheaper, lighter, better design than the tj07, more hdd space, easier to mod. has wheels. the tj07 is really heavy. i think i paid near 500 w/ shipping right when they came out like jan 16th. waste of money, get a pc-v2000.

How's the cooling? Sub-par cooling is a dealbreaker for me. One thing I keep hearing about that brand of Lian-li is the cooling isn't spectacular (and no, I don't plan on WCing ever.)

It has decent to very good airflow. One thing's for sure, It's beautiful, and worth an extra 1 or 2 degree higher case temp.

If you're worried about cooling never buy the tj07, but instead buy a mountain mods ufo case (those cube ones). Bout the same price but wicked cooling. I don't have any temp records from the tj07 because it's currently out of service w/ no mobo in it. The cooling scheme is a little odd with two 92 mm fans blowing in and 2 120 mm fans blowing the air out of the top. The prob is if your proc hs has a uncommon position the 92 mm fans air won't hit it so basically it's not that useful. When i had my mobo in there the heatsink wouldn't even come into contact with the air from the 92 mm fans.

Again, the case is very heavy when loaded, no wheels, 8 screws to remove both doors (major pain), very very expensive, there is no clearance for any hdd data connectors so what will happen is your sata connectors will be crushed between the door and the hdd sata connectors and will crack and cause you all sorts of problems.

Much better options available in the market to buy. I was kinda irked that maxpc gave the 7 their yearly award. lian-li cases are much better and less expensive.

Yes, the power button also acts like a reset button. Tap it turn on the computer/start windows shutdown, hold it for a second for reset, and hold for four seconds for hard poweroff.

As for the SATA connectors, just get a 90 degree connector and you're good to go.

As for the LL's being better, I'll have to disagree. My TJ07 cools a lot better than the v1200 I had (which is basically the same set up for the v1000 and v2000), and is easier to work with, thanks to the MOBO tray.

that's a good point on the 90 deg sata connectors. but the clearance still is tight. the removable mobo tray i guess would be fine for some people and does simplify the install a bit tho it really doesn't seem to make any difference to me. i guess the case is a decent case but with the v2000 you get 12 3.5 bays w/ easy connect slide in and the hdd cages on the 7 are only 6 max and then your 5.25 bays. the lian li i've found if you turn around the rear 120 mm fan your proc temps go down insane. i was running about 115 def f on the proc and then turned the fan around to blow inside instead of blowing out and it went down to 97 ish. you can always add a top fan to the lian li case by cutting a hole in it right when you get it but you would need a drill and one of those hole cutters ($$). i would say the 7 is a decent case but it is just so darn expensive. looks like newegg carries them now for $365. that's not a bad price and I have to say that the psu mounts better on the 7 than a lian li plus you can run two on the 7 so that's nice. if you do get the 7 seriously take some time and put some dope casters on it to roll it around because one you load it up with 6 drives full fans, all that it is really heavy. I think if I had to pay the money again compared to the $250 lian li I would pick the lian li because you can fit more dives in it.

that's the main reason i went to the v2000 b/c of the 12 hdd space. i filled up the 7 almost immediately and thought about buying sata 5.25 racks but then considered the cost of the racks compared to all the extra 5.25 and 6 3.25 and it would be cheaper to just buy a new v2000 and keep the 7 for something else. if you are going to have a lot of hdd or want to run a 8 port card for raid the 7 would need two extra sata racks and that would be about 50-60 on top of the already $365 case. Again my main reason to go to the v2000 was based on the fact that i can run 12+7= 19 hdd if i wanted to sans the optical. I'm only running 4 disks in the v2000 now because i am getting ready to do a new raid 5 media server with 8 disks on a highpoint card. the prob. with the 7 is that it only holds 6 disks and they are a pain to get out, unscrew cage, then remove, then unscrew four screws for each disk. the v2000 is so much easier, just pop up the clips and slide out. def gonna use another v2000 for the new raid 5 if i ever scrouge up the money for it. the 7 would be good for a gaming rig that needs lots of cooling and little hdd space. imo

edit: only thing that sux about the v2000 is you're gonna need a power supply extender for the mobo if your connector is too short.

Just thought I'd let you know, sundialmicro has the black TJ07 for 299 dollars. That's a very good price!

This is definitely a difficult decision... one I'm going to have to think on for a bit. In the meantime, keep posting the pros and cons. ;)

One thing I've noticed - when the screws on the TJ07 are tight, the case doesn't rattle. On the v1200, it would rattle regardless.

I've had a TJ07 for a couple weeks now. The case is as gorgeous as everyone says it is. Ooodles and oodles of room for cable management and all your goodies.

Cooling should be more than sufficient for most applications. Be warned, however, this case may not be the one for you if you have noisy hard drives. I run four 10k SCSI drives and those suckers are considerably louder in this case than they were in my previous (D8000) case. However, they ran pretty damn hot to the touch in my old case and the TJ07 keeps them cool too the touch which is pretty damn impressive.

Run both 92 and all four 120mm fans at 7v and you'll have a pretty quiet case overall, tho.

i guess the most important thing with the 7 is that they used very thick aluminum for the case. it's essentially a u shaped case with the 5.25 bays at the bottom of the u. the rear pillars are screwed in and then all the supports are just plain flakey aluminum. the idea with the 7 is one hunk of thick al supports the vibrations from other things but the hdd cages still rattle a tad since they are on risers. the price for the 7 directly relates to the giant thick piece of aluminum you are buying (the u part). the side panels and all the other stuff are just regular thickness al and in fact the v2000 has better quality doors with scalloped edges and one screw access. the noise factor isn't really a deal with the v2000. i haven't noticed any odd sounds other than when i place my hand on the middle area of the top of the case and press medium way it makes it more quiet in a way but when you take your hand off it's not like oh my goodness what a world of difference. the tj07 is kinda like a very expensive sports car, no space for luggage, expensive materials, hard to work on, built in cooling, rare, expensive. the v2000 is like a honda element, lots of space for storage, versatile, you can rearrange the seats, cute, just right.

Quick question for you TJ07 owners that were former Lian Li owners. Is it possible to use the Lian Li stealth aluminum cd/dvd drive covers stock with the TJ07? If not, could they be modified (and How do you think it could be done?) to fit the TJ07?

Thanks.

the lian li v2000 i have bezel 5.25 screws in from the behind like kinda off the place where you would screw normally. the part is really too short to screw into the 7's screw areas. perhaps you could some how tape the bezel to the optical drive and then stick the whole thing in. if i had to buy another optical drive i would get the slot loading one from plextor tho its super expensive but then is like a cd car stereo style. i have a pic of thte lian li bezel here and how it connects

^^^Thanks. I have a Lian-Li PC-68 with 2 of the drive bezel covers on my current setup. From looking at the pictures on the net of the TJ07, I can't tell if they could somehow be modded to fit if you set the dvd drive back a little in the TJ07 bay.

I have a brand new 7 case sitting on my desk. All the other parts should arrive next week. I have the PCP&C 1kw unit nicely seated inside the case. Sits very nicely for a huge PSU... bit of a squeeze with the cables pressing against the HD cage but still comfortable.

Regarding fans. I am definitely removing all dafault 120mm fans with Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 1600RPM (64CFM).
Then I will use the front bays 2, 3 and 4 (if bottom bay is1) for a very powerful Delta 190 CFM fan. So it will flood the whole CPU2 and video card area with cool air. The hot air will rise up naturally and the 2x120mm fans at the top will suck it out. The heatsinks for my dual Opteron setup will be Zalman 9500s. Both my Zalman heatsinks will be facing upwards...meaning they will throw the hot exhaust towards the top 120mm fans. I think it will work very well. I will leave the rear 2x92mm fans as intake. It will atleast feed cold air to the 1st CPU.
I will also add one fan in the 2nd PSUs area.

Could someone answer my question? :D

My PSU is expensive so I don't even want to risk breaking the SATA connectors on it's cables. Now how do I connect a 90° SATA connector? Do I just buy 6x 90°SATA cables and plug/connect them to the PSUs SATA cables and then to the HD SATA connectors? Will it have any negative impact?

The Power SATA connectors arn't the problem - its the data connectors going to the motherboard. I have the PCP&C 850w, which is same as yours in terms of size and cables, and the power connectors clear easily. Some people have problem with data connectors; I don't - I have one 90 degree connector and one short standard connector, and both clear easily. I can see that longer connecters on the data cables would have problems.

I see thanks for clearing that. So it's not really an issue. I have to buy the data cables for the SATA HDs anyway so I will just get the 90° ones.

It should work well, but with a 190 CFM in the front, I think having the 92s exhausting would be better. My Kama bay has a 58 CFM fan in it, so I still the 92s to intake to get more cool air in the system (I tried it both ways, and this worked better for me), but with that windtunnel, you probably won't need any more intake.

I know what you are saying but I doubt the classic wind tunnel will happen as the 2x120s at the top will break it up in the middle. What I am looking for is a 2x semi-U shaped effect happening at both CPUs. So the air comes in through the back gets eaten by the 1st CPU and goes up with the help of Zalman plus the 1st 120mm...in an upward semi U shaped curve. Same happens at the front...the 2nd top 120mm sucks the air coming from the front in a U shape. The front fan is powerful so the extra cool air will spill in lower areas and take care of trapped hot air in the video card region.

I will try 92 both ways and see which works better instead of spouting crap as if I was some aerodynamic/wind turbulence specialist :D

You know the Kama bay has that dust filter thing. Anyone thought about adding similar filter for the other fans? OR even the whole lower mesh area? DIY style? I have a feeling that this case will get really dusty ;-P

Guys, I haven't really looked close enough to be sure, but are the drive cages reversible? The cages on my black TJ07 came mounted in the opposite direction, with the fans on the left side of the case when facing the case from the front... the opposite of what I see in the pictures above. Weird.

Yes the two HD cages are reversible. YOu need to undo the four screws that hold it to the case floor and then turn the cage 360°. I have them on opposite directions to create little bit of cross flow (reccomended by someone here).

Kick ass! I have my case mounted almost flush against the side of a desk (on the left side of the case) which results in less-than-optimum airflow and additional noise. I'm gonna flip this bitches around tonight and 7v mod them while I'm at it. Woot.

This data cable will ok right? What length should I get? It come in 50cm and 75 cm flavour. Both same price. Just get the 75cm one?

In my system, 18" cables where more than long enough. It really depends on where you the headers are on your motherboard.

Dust seems to be a big problem with that case  I will see if I can add some kind of dust filters on all the mesh areas. OR just clean it every 2 weeks

According to the guy replacing default fans helped with the temps so that makes me feel better about ordering some replacemnts fans :p

Question-

I fitted the PCP&C 1KW PSU on to the TJ07. Making the screws line up took bit of effort. Anyway it's all nicely done and secure but the PSU is floating in air 100%. There is a gap of 5-8mm underneath the whole of the PSU. Is this normal? Should the PSU not be resting completely on the floor of the case?
If this is normal then should I put a small piece underneath to support the non screwed end of the PSU for support?

IIRC, my 850 is sitting on the bottom of the case (its on the left side, from the front). Have you tried using the mounting point on the other side?

Funny thing is that it was sitting on the floor when I installed it yesterday. Then today I thought let me try the left side. So I unscrewed it but then relaised that to have it on the left side would involve turning the PSU with the fan at the bottom. So i decided to stick with the right side (right side when viewing from behind) but when I rcrewed it back to the right it floats 100% in air. Nothing is bent or anything. I am totally confused :) I wil try again.

Man I tried again and everything lined up perfectly and required NO effort plus it sits 100% on the floor! WTF did I do differently before I think I need to get some sleep :D
