Just purchased Titan Quest after playing the demo for hours on end but I'm having major performance problems. Demo ran amazing at 1280x1024 with everything on high, lowest fps was around 30 and that was with a ton of stuff on the screen. With the full game and same settings, i'm getting 13 frames   I don't understand whats causing this, tried unpatched, 1.08 and 1.11 and they all do the same thing. Even with all the settings on low I get just below 20 so the in game settings aren't making much of a difference.

Specs:
Athlon AM2 2.4ghz
Asus M2N-E
1800xt 512
2 Gigs Corsair XMS2
X-FI Extreme Music

im not gettin really low fps just a dip in FR every once in a while. Sorry your having probs bro

EDIT: also turn off ZoneAlarm and AIM if you are playing. just read in Titanquest forums it makes a HUGE difference especially if your playing online. I did it and teh difference was AMAZING

It runs pretty badly on my system too albeit it's not high end it still shouldn't stutter all the time on medium at 1080x1024, it runs pretty badly on my friends systems too. I think this game just needs to be patched. I mean it's playable it just has annoying slowdowns.

System:
Athlon 64 3200 @2.4GHZ
1 gig ram
7600gt
X-fi Extreme music

The performance issues I believe just need to be patched. I'm running it fine, but every so often I get a few seconds of slowdown. It's not really a big deal, but it appears that some people are having it far worse than others.

I have been crashing every time I speak with a merchant, tried everything including setting it to windows 2k/98 compatibility, this game looks like it might be great, but god damn when they release games like this it makes me wonder : /

Even after the patch? I was getting random crashes, but once they released the patch I haven't had a single crash

wow ur machine spec seems fine but y u still have 30 fps?? guess titan quest need more than x1800xt...

i get bout 20fps on lowest setting.... 28 on med setting if i remmeber correctly.. the spec are on my sig

btw is there an option for us to u rotate the view 360 degree?

Must be something wrong your computer. I'm running fine on 1280x1024 with high detail & high texture with no AA. It slows down once in a while such as when entering and exiting caves/buidings, but I think that's most of the game's problem.

My friend with a x1800xt 512 also has this game and it runs very smooth for him with evereything high.

azn!!!! i jus read ur sig and find out u got x850xt!!!! its not pe right? anyway its close to pe.... i jus want sum info from u about ur card.... how is ur card?? what games do u play? can u tell me how it performs? i was planning to get x850xtPE... so yeah i need sum info from a x850s user....

can u play quake 4 on max setting with decent frame rate? can u play lineage2 on max setting with decent frame rate? can u jus tell me what games u play and how much fps u get and what settings?

back to subject... i would like to ask again if theres an option for us to rotate the camera?

Well I finally figured it out, this game really does not like anisotropic filtering, it was completely killing my framerate but with it turned off i'm staying steady around 50-60 frames with everything turned on, only slowdowns come from entering/exiting caves.

Hey monster, my X850XT is OC'ed a little past PE speed and it's a great card. Quake 4 runs pretty smooth at 1280x1024 with 4xAA, as for Lineage 2, I don't play that game so I have no idea. Some of the other games I play are Day of Defeat Source, Battlefield 2 and CSS. All three games runs from 50-80 FPS with 4xAA and 16xAF, so I'd say they run pretty decently. I also tried it on FEAR, but the card falls a bit here since FEAR is pretty demanding. I played it on 1280x1024 with no AA or SS and 4xAF and it ran pretty good. Obviously I also play Titan Quest and it runs smooth at 1280x1024 with 2 of the 4 settings on high with no AA.

X850XT is still a pretty solid card and I think you can get it for around $150 nowadays right? However, I heard that 7600GT is slightly better than X850XT and it costs around the same/little cheaper so you might want to look into that too.

BTW, you should also pick up another stick of 512mb ram if you're planning on upgrading your graphics card.

ahh 50-80 fps on 4xAA thats not bad! i think im getting it! thanks for the info buddy

Bah I've had a 7600gt since they came out and they're comparable to the x850 and I already want to upgrade, if I were you I'd go straight to a 7900gt or an x1900gt

I have a Dell M170 and performance is ok, but all my settings are at medium and I run at 1280x800 widescreen. That patch did help the crashing issues I was having, that was quite annoying.
