Tips for Overclocking a 9800 Pro

I just bought a 9800 Pro and was wondering what you guys thought would be the best way to overclock it? What softmod program should I use? How do I pull the heatsink and put a new one on? Which one is best? Thanks for the help.
 
Rage3d is the program, im too afraid to pull the cooler off my GPU so I cant help you there. Search it on Google.
 
is it a Built By ATI 9800pro?
If it is, the heatsink easily comes off, there are two black pins on the h/s fan, pull them out, and it comes off.
Rage3D works well for overclocking.
You can do the 9800pro to XT bios. it's just modded, and works well for me.
 
I like to use Radclocker along with Radlinker on my 9800 Pro because I can have it set to where I'm overclocking my 9800 Pro when it needs to be.

otherwise it just runs at stock clock speeds when I'm not gaming.
 
so ozzie when u dl that and it appers under the ATI control panel u just set the clock speeds u want and hit "set" and u are overclocked ? How do i make it to run my video card only overclocked when am gaming but stock when not ?>
 
well, you dont O/C your card through the control panel.

instead, you O/C through Radlinker which is also on that link I showed earlier.

after you install Radlinker, you right-click on your game's icon on your desktop (or wherever) and there should be an option that says "create Radlink".

once you do that, you can right-click on the icon that you just made with Radlink and there should be some options that have like clock speed and AA options. you just set that to your likes and now the video card will only be O/Ced when you run that certain game.

again, thats why I like that setup because there's no need in my running my 9800 Pro @ 425/740 when I'm just surfin' the net....
 
if you have a shitty BIOS get a better one. I had samsung memory with an april 29 bios and couldn't squeeze 10 mhz out of my memory. with a flash to the august BIOS for my card I got 30 mhz
 
Got it at Newegg. It looks to have just the stock silver ATI heatsink with the fan spinning in the middle. I will try Rage3d will that work with the new Catalyst Drivers?
 
My tip is, bust the soldering iron out and up the volts. Then try to cool it!!!:D
