Timing or Speed?

I was just wondering if having slower RAM running tighter timings is better than RAM running faster with a little more loose timings. Right now I am overclocked to 908mhz at 4-4-5-12 and was wondering if i lowered the speed and tightened the timings if performance would increase or decrease. Thanks ahead of time for your input.
