is everything here looking normal, it seems to save the progress alot, thats what the Timered Checkpoint triggered is right? where does it save it to? should it be doing this very often?

this is with the folding live cd
and how long does it take for the ETA and PPD to show up in F@Hmon

It should be doing this every 15 minutes or so by default. On a folding CD I imagine it is saving to a RAM drive or something similar. It won't do much good if the power goes but normally it is where the client resumes from if the client is turned off. Usually you should have a PPD estimate after 2-3%.

 
If you have a very stable farm you can feel comfy moving it to 30 minutes. Less writing = less power :)

 
If you are using notfreds disk:

you can put a USB thumb drive in the system and It will save to it. Been very handy for when I don something stupid, or the power company does.
