-Mostly gaming

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
-I'd like to be around 500-600

3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
-Marietta Ga

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
-Case, monitor, keyboard/mouse, hard drive, Vid card: i have an ati 4850HD, but i think it will keep me running for now. Power supply: CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-520HX 520W ATX12V . Ive been using this one for years now, but its still holding up

In that case, go to that Microcenter and buy the Core i5 2500K for $180 and Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3-B3 motherboard for $100. Total would be around $280 plus local taxes:

Grab Windows 7 Home Premium, RAM, and DVD burner from newegg:
$37 - G.Skill Value Series F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM
$16 - LG GH22NS90B DVD Burner
$100 - Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit OEM
----
Total: $153 shipped.

Overall total should be below $500.

In case a sales rep at Microcenter ropes you into buying the RAM from MC, make sure that whatever DDR3 RAM you buy from MC fit all three of the following criteria:
1) Rated at 1.5V or lower: This is the important part as RAM rated above 1.5V may cause damage to your Intel CPU. So make absolutely sure the RAM is rated at 1.5V or below.
2) Rated at DDR3 1333 or DDR3 1600 speeds. Current Intel CPU don't benefit at all from RAM rated above DDR3 1600 speeds. As such, no point in getting higher speed RAM, especially if they have higher latencies.
3) No more than $50 after taxes. Any higher and you're getting ripped off.

All three criteria must be met for that RAM to be a good buy.

Awesome thanks. Do you think my power supply will still run fine with new upgrades and everything. Ive had it for about 4-5 years but haven't had any trouble with it. One of my friends was telling me i should upgrade that too, but i was kind of meh about it.

If it's not exhibiting or causing issues, you should be ok with it. It's a good quality PSU so it has a higher chance of just killing itself rather than the PC if the PSU dies. Just dust it out and that should be it.
