Well... I am a fuck!ng idiot for spilling a full cup of tap water right in my SN45G ver. 1 !!!

so yeah basically my whole system is fked... my question is where should I go now?
Ive been looking at the newcastle 3000+ or 3200+ those run well with a shuttle system? which shuttle should i look into now, nforce 3? or the new via chipset? I have done some reasearch on both chipsets but I havent found anything that has to do with SFF systems. if i go the 64bit route should i run XP or stick with my good ol 2000 pro?

any info/comments appreciated

thanks-

If you're going to go 64, I'd recommend XP over 2K simply for the updates that are available.
SP4 for 2K did enable wireless support but it still doesn't have Native SATA and 2K does have some known "issues" with Hyperthreading/ multi core chips.

Chipset-wise it's up to you really. I haven't had any experiance with either chipset so I'm affraid I can't help you there. Now I have heard people having better results with the optic digital out on an NForce3 versus the built in sound card on a VIA board but VIA's new 24-bit sound system takes very little processing power for what it is.

For 64-bit I'd get the Shuttle SN95G5 if you were wanting a Socket 939, or else the SN85 for socket 754 (more reasonably priced), I suppose it depends on how much you're wanting to spend.

My next system will probably be based around the SN95G5 once AMD produce the 3000+ in 939 socket, which might be a while yet though I'm not sure (read it on The Register).
