I'm not terribly concerned with sound quality, i know any new sound card will sound good. What i'm looking for is a sound card that won't effect my FPS. Something with good drivers that uses minimum cpu cycles and lets me play all day without ever thinking about it.

I have read some really bad reviews of the X-FI including NForce-4 compatibility problems so that worries me. Price is not really an issue but i'm not going to spend $300+ on a sound card that won't play nice with my system. I have not really kept up with sound cards these last few years mainly because i've been happy with my TBSC and i have never really been a fan of Creative... I remember nothing but problems back in the old SB Live/Win 98 days lol.
 
No modern card except Creative cards have hardware audio acceleration.

IE., only an Audigy or X-Fi will "not effect your FPS" (even though they still do a little) - everything else will show a pretty big drop.
