Hi all,
Its been a while since I have changed anything in my setup, and now I am getting the feeling that it might be time to upgrade. Here are My current specs (in sig as well):
P4C 3ghz 478 800mhz FSB
Asus P4C800 Deluxe (not E)
Enermax PSU (believe its rated at 430)
1 gig Corsair XMS 3200PT memory (does not overclock much at all)
ATI 9700 Pro (this needs to go)
SB Audigy 2 (never had any major issues with it)
WD 80 gig HD 7200rpm 8mb cache (I dont use much space, I keep my HD very clean of clutter)
I am getting back into gaming again (took a little break) and also do video encoding/editing. I want a machine that will be somewhat futureproof (i.e. maybe 2 years of life, with just replacing the video card). I am intriqued by the new Dual core processors, but am not sure how well they perform for games. I also hope to do some overclocking. My budget is about $750 (might be able to get more by selling the above parts). Is it wise just to upgrade the video card and get better ram, or build a new rig, using some current parts I already have? I am interested in what you guys think.
Zero
edit: forgot to mention how much ram I have.
