Hi all!

For the record this isn't my first post, I've been around since May 2001, but apparently my account was deleted  !

Anyway, I need to upgrade my rig ASAP. I need a MoBo, CPU, HSF, RAM, and Vid Card. Any suggestions? Work has kept me out of the loop lately, so now I turn to my fellow [H]ard posters. I'm impartial between Intel and AMD, my last rig sounds like a vacuum cleaner cuz the 1.4 gig Tbird is one hot chip. I would also like to spend less than $600 (if possible) for everything. Thanks in advance for any and all of your help.

Mobo: Chaintech nforce3 250 mobo
Ram: Corsair Value Select 512 3200
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Video: Wait for the 6600 GT to come out (should be soon, sometime this month)

Not to say you're wrong clockworks, i just think its a better idea to just get an XP, because then you don't have to skimp on anything else.

Mobo: Either ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe or ABIT NF7-S
RAM: OCZ 512MB 256x2 dual channel PC3200 or some other name brand
CPU: Athlon XP 3200+
Video: I do agree with the 6600 idea, but if you need something right now, I would suggest a 9800 Pro.

I would get a 2400+ mobile with a DFI NF2 mobo(best ocer) or a NF7-s. I dont recommend the A7N8X Deluxe cause i have it and cant get over 200 stable. I also suggest 512/1gb of geil value ram which runs at 2-3-3-6 and does 220fsb+ easily. Oh and also a 9800 pro for now, or maybe a 6600GT when they come out. There is absolutely no reason to spend 205.00 on a 3200+ barton when i have a 80 dollar chip at that speed now. the n00b above me has no idea what hes takling about. Clockworks thatll go a little over his budget D:

dude, first off, just cuz my name says noob, doesn't make me a newb...i'll agree with you, i have a 2500+ oc'ed to a 3200, but still, he can take that 3200 just that much higher, and since he does have a 600 dollar budget...not that everyone should just spend all their money...i don't have experience with any of those mobos (cept the A7N8X-X, which won't let me in stable over 200 either), so i'm going off what i've heard. i haven't used the DFI board, so i'll just trust you :p...but sorry if my first comment seemed rash, just don't like bein called a noob! haha

hope that helps ya

Alex bud, I hate to burst your bubble, but AXP mobiles will go far higher than 3200+'s.

lol, sorry, i wasn't thinking right, yes, i would go with the mobile, and i would get the highest speed they make...whatever that is, i'm not an expert...they are unlocked and if you get a nice heatsink, woo hoo!! don't they start at like 1.4v or something? well, its okay, ur not bursting my bubble, just making me realize that a mobile is a better idea...i wish i had a mobile, but i dont....

Thanks for the advice guys, if you think of any more let me know cuz I'll be making the purchases probably tomorrow.

Thanks.
