I've got this beastly fan in my comp that is just TOO LOUD!

Thats my current fan. I think it may be older, or newer, not sure. But its loud. Really loud. It seriously, 100% honestly sounds like a fucking blowdryer is on all the time. Thats not an exaggeration either. Seriously guys.

I need a new one that cools just as well, but QUIETER! What kind of price can I expect to pay and what kind of fan should I get? I've gt PP ready if anyone can supply something efficient for the comp in my sig.

thinking you need a 80mm fan, I say go with a Panaflo 80mm Ultra. 47cfm 38dba . Panaflo are the most silent/effective fan.

Sure it's not the 80cfm you have with your current fan, but for silence, there is a price to pay.

Or just buy yourself a fan controller and run your current fan at low speed.

you really can't get equal cooling much quieter in an 80mm fan - You will have to look at a 92mm or 120mm fan

well that isn't to bad. I have 4 Vantec 80x38 vantec Tornados for my case fans, and 1 92x38 vantec tornado for my cpu cooler right now on my server. now that is loud. The wife told me I had better do something myself about the fan noise as she can't hear anyone on the phone. So I am now in the process of converting to a water cooled rig. the only other problem I have with these fans though is that I have a fan mount that blows over my hdd and when that fan is on the hard drive won't boot. when I move the fan else where in the case I have no problem. I'm guessing to much magnetic field for my Maxtor to handle

I love SilenX fans, they're great, but he wants one that's quiet AND cools as well as a tornado... that's just not going to happen if he looks for a fan the same size.
